Somali women before vs after

To be honest we all look ugly now (not me and my family though) after the civil war. I really don’t know what happened, I’ve got entire albums of my parents generation from Somalia and they looked like beautiful people like us diasporas unlike today.
Idk, may Allah restore the beauty of our broken women and our troubled men

Ameen

Maybe that's in the U.K but not in North America. :samwelcome:

Nice BS. Somalis would probably be an insignificant small population like the Rendille who are getting absorbed by Nilotics.

I met someone with Rendille ancestry in college. Apparently their oral legends states they used to live in present day Somalia and moved to preserve their culture (Waaq)

I wonder if they are indeed a long lost Somali clan that rejected Islam.

You're going to far nayaa. They are far distant cousins and they never lived in Somalia. They have always lived in the lake of Turkana of Kenya and Islam came into Somalia during Hijra and let me quote them for you sis.

"Islam was introduced in Somalia in the 7th century when the Muslim Arabs fled from the persecution of the Pagan Quraysh tribe. When the Muslims defeated the Pagans, some returned to Arabia, but many decided to stay there and established Muslim communities along the Somali coastline. The local Somalis adopted the Islamic faith well before the faith even took root in its place of origin.

Islam was introduced to the northern Somali coast early on from the Arabian peninsula, shortly after the hijra. Zeila's two-mihrab Masjid al-Qiblatayn dates to the 7th century, and is the oldest mosque in Africa.

In the late 9th century, Al-Yaqubi wrote that Muslims were living along the northern Somali seaboard. He also mentioned that the Adal kingdom had its capital in the city, suggesting that the Adal Sultanate with Zeila as its headquarters dates back to at least the 9th or 10th century. According to I.M. Lewis, the polity was governed by local Somali dynasties, who also ruled over the similarly-established Sultanate of Mogadishu in the littoral Benadir region to the south. Adal's history from this founding period forth would be characterized by a succession of battles with neighbouring Abyssinia."

Nah their language probably split off from us before we were Muslim but their language is closer to us than other cushitic languages. They however aren’t fully Cushitic ethnically, but have mixed with nilotics.

Ah I see. Language is almost always a better marker for history then oral traditions.

Waryaa and Nayaa is normal where I am from maybe Somali cultures are different since some people take it offensive. Where you from?

And no, the Somali language is three thousand years old, probably even older than that since we were direct decedents of Barbara > Macrobians > Puntites.

Rendille is more closer to Sidamo and Oromo than us and we Somalis are simply closer to Afars since linguistics and genetics prove so.

Lol yeah naaya is pretty rude in my dialect. It’s weird because a lot of tribes claim descendent from our area like the Tutsi, they probably just mean Cushitic in general.

Tutsi are south Cushitic. We Somalis are East Cushitic, again you're picking far cousins lol.

Abkaal

Mudug menaces don't mince their words
Let me get this off my chest.

I hate seeing religious Somali women who are not put together, our beautiful religion literally promotes cleanliness and wearing decent clothes before leaving your house. You don't have to look like you just rolled out of the house inorder to be religious. From the color of hijabs they choose to the shoes they wear always makes me cringe. They also look ashy. Put on a moisturizer.

Im a devout Muslimah who makes an effort to make herself look put together when leaving my house.

With that being said, I'm really getting sick and tired of you losers always bashing Islam. Islam is the best religion. We are the chosen ones.
:salute: Salute you Qabiilist

cameras weren't widely available back then. Somalis did family photo shoots on eid days or special occasions so they looked their best in those photos. My mother looks like a model in all of her old photos. but Somali women today are overweight and covered in ugly tents and Somali guys look quiet malnourished.

SumMo

very lowkey

The disrespect!! loool :damn::damn::damn::dead::dead: covered in ugly tents kulaha, I’m dead.

Women don't have to be covered up to be Muslim. I have seen Muslim women who are uncovered, wear bikinis to the beach and have pet dogs. They are still Muslim.
