Somalia as a united country without major issues only existed for 9 years. From 1960-1969.
Under Aden Cadde/Sharmarke (AUN both)

Brief history summary.

  • Middle-Ages: There was Somali and Cushitic (?) unity during the battle agains Abbysinnia in the Middle-Ages. "Futuh Al Habesha"-- Somalis were victorious against the Habeshas and from this sprang certain Sultanates: Adal, Harar and so forth.
  • Thereafter, Somalis went their separate ways again and lived under different Sultanates. One of the most mentioned ones is the "Ajuuraan Sultanate".
  • 1920s (?) Colonial powers descent upon Africa and the Somali landmass was divided like cake after Somali kingdoms were bombed and defeated.
  • 1943-1960 Somalis fought back, united and SYL was born,
  • 1960-1969. Somalia finally gained a government, one nation under one flag.
  • 1969-1991 dictator Siyad came in under suspicious circumstances and ruled for 21 year brutal years.
  • 1998, Puntland was created to fill the power vacuum in the North-East (home of SYL)
  • 2004, Puntland's President was elected as President of Somalia and he used Puntland finances and soldiers to create the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF SOMALIA.
  • 2020: Siyad Barre's nephew, Farmaajo, is back in power and refuses to leave.

You forgot to add Adal itself collapsed after Nur Mujahid who was the last 'ruler' similar to how Somalia collapsed with siyad as it's last ruler. It seems like Adal and Somalia started well and all of a sudden the marehan come along and it's all comes tumbling down. @Calaf @Dues Ex Machete choose to ignore 'two govt' collapsed at their hands and there is no evidence u created 'adal' as u simply came long after it was created similar to Somalia in 1960 and u came along after new federal republic was created kkkkkk don't let this be your 'third' state collapse project, u already have a track record for adal and somalia

@PuntiteQueen Boqor Osman never participated in Somalia republican project, it was purely a project born after keenadiid lost his hobyo sultanate to get revenge on the italians thru 'nationalism' but even Keenadiid kid wanted to ensure the republic stayed with 'saldanad clans' in power constantly with mj/irir rotation on pm/president which is why the abgaal cried 'rashid iyo razaq inta kale ma roti ba' meaning the egal/aden adde/abdillahi issa were allowed power as long as 'mj' was constantly in power with no 'rotation' on our seat only their seat.

SYL Somali state idea was terrible and not thought over deeply to ask clans that were governed to join ungoverned clans and share an all powerful state in the hands of 4 year president who is civilian himself is a recipe for disaster in my book, even now with federalism even tho it's good the state power is split, but it's still trying to create a republic which is going to lead to the same problems before when it should return to monarchy state with the govt below the monarchy.

Same student is a finalist for Rhodes Scholarship with all expenses covered for study at Oxford!

Somaliland's future is bright, I am losing count of local young people succeeding in the most exclusive institutions in the world, and returning back home to help their people.

Look how much space is there that is open in Burco, just a glance at burco and 75% is open space and 25% settled. Even Hargeisa is like that, all open space and settled part is 30 sq km

@TabK Burco is probably the 6th largest city. Bosaso is 2nd largest, Galkacyo is 4th largest. Hargeisa is 3rd largest, Burco is 6th largest. Beletwayn I think is even bigger and has less open space.

Cities don't matter anyways since it's only 20% of the over-all population according to GDP and purchasing power isn't different except for 'farmers' being lower purchasing power. Population is linked to where the CHEESE AT bruv, they follow the money trail and it's all in rural areas, the cities are like 2 billion maximum in GDP nation-wide, it's farming/livestock where the real numbers are with largest share in GDP and largests population segment. Infact if u combined farmers/nomads it's 12 million with urban only 3 million based on GDP since farming is 40% and livestock is 40% of GDP and 20% cities. So it doesn't matter who has largest city when its who has the largest rural area, this aint western world with small rural base, its africa were 80% is rural
