Somaliland imports most of its food from the Emirates. Most people traveling to hargeisa use Dubai airport for transit.
The UAE is the biggest investor in SL.
Also Saudi Arabia is our biggest export market.
It is in our interests to side with them.

Why is Somaliland going to choose Qatar who has done absolutely nothing for Somaliland?

What did he say you disagree with?

1: He used Ethiopia as a model for governance. Reality is that Ethiopia is oppressing large swath of its people and just this week had to shut down its internet to avoid a mutiny. He sets the false premise that this shows that ethnic governance is a model for somali, hinting at clan-based governancen. It is not.

2: He dimisses the notion of continuity in government, we have one President at time and he's not a President but a governor. Furthermore he illustrates this by having one on one meeting with a another foreign leader without the President approval, undercutting the President, which he is arguing that his model don't.

3: He trust anything Ethiopian leaders tell him about their country, this out-seized faith from a Somali leader is disgraceful.

This is one of the reasons why Somalia can never recognize Somaliland. It will always work against the interests of the nation
as a fifth column.

Steamdevelopment, stop derailing the thread. I reported you.

Though SL's interests lie with Saudi/UAE, what will they gain from cutting a non existing ties with Qatar?

I assume further investments from UAE and possible alignment with Saudis, but unlike UAE, the Saudis only have empty promises.

I also think SL authorities sees as a plus any time they can get Somaliland in the spot-light and show differences with SFG.

Of all the people, you should be supporting her cause against Somaliland, and here you are as a threat reporting her???:what1:

She is defending you from the secessionist of Somaliland, because God forbid if they do succeed you an your folks will be the one to lose a lot in terms of territories.

To be honest I think we should recognize parts of Khaatoom and Awdal as their separate state though with deference to Puntland's borders.

I see as the most geopolitical sensible in reducing statehood potential and giving the people within SL a concrete reason to support unity.

Replicating Ethiopia's model of governance doesn't inherently mean we will inherit Ethiopia's issues.

President is an arbitrary title, at the end of the day, he holds the power he holds. As leader of his respective administration he must act in the best interest of the people.

Clan based governance is the way to go, so?
