Why is Islam so bad to women and why do Islamic laws treat them more as property than a person?

Are women equal under Islam?

How is law school brother? You basically incriminated your client in your defense:bell:

Feminism happened in the 19th century and in the same way we do not let us be satisfied by 19th century technological standards, we shouldn't be satisfied by at best mediocre treatment of women in Islamic countries. :nahgirl:
Law school is good just getting ready for exams.

I honestly think feminism is crap and especially the current wave of feminism, it does much disservice for women.

The measure of a country is not when they had female leadership. The US had a black President and now ethno-nationalism is more rampant than before. Singapore is NOT muslim....

Instead the measure must be how equal are women with men in rights, access to healthcare/education, how is violence against women treated.

Oh yeah, ethno-nationalism is more rampant now which is so much worse that when they lynched and raped black people for sport

Men said the same thing doing the sufferage movement. :ulyin:

More were going to:

1: Divorce their men = NOT TRUE, DVIORCE RATE ARE STABLE IN DENMARK

2: Act like men = NOT TRUE
3: Be lesbian = I hope this one is true:siilaanyosmile:

My argument wasn't that ethno-nationalism haven't been worse, but that the election of a black man didn't change the underlying systemical problems and prejudices.

Stay woke.

Divorce rate skyrocketed in the US when No-fault divorce was made legal

For logical reasons, the same way abortion rose when it was made available. In both cases you forced women to accept conditions due to a lack of rights.

Since then divorce has been stable and abortion rates are falling down.

In all countries surveyed, women initiate divorce in a large number of cases. This is why all societies did not have no fault divorce.

As for the general sentiment expressed about women in Muslim countries, it is true.

There are no Islamic countries on Earth. Only countries populated by people who profess to be Muslim.

In any case, the disgusting people who abuse women, children and the vulnerable will get what's coming to them. Allah can overlook a crime against Him but not his creation.

The problem with Islam is ...it does not have informed people to speak for it. We have false translaters, and Isis wanna be's who walk around with black flags that Hadith already predicted will be Dajjals choice of flags.

Islam--when discussed academically is rich plenty of proof that it is GREAT for women. Khadija, prophet's pbuh wife was a business woman. Queen Shiba was a Queen of a nation that even made King Suleiman ra sit up and be amazed that there exist a woman with a 'throne'. In Hadith it also noted Prophet Muhammad Pbuh faced countless of resistance from the pagan arabs, once being surrounded by Sahabas to shield the prophet pbuh from the attac ,of the shield-ers were a single recorded woman. (proof that masculine women existed by the way) Also there is another hadith where the prophet pbuh send women in the forest to hide and was accompanied by a man who was a poet, couldn't go to the war, and was viewed bodily weak by the men. (proof of existance of feminine men?) When invaders came to attack the women, the women asked him to go fight and he refused being afraid. So one of the women, put on a mans cloth went & slaughtered one of the men , making the others flee with fear
Yes Islam has gender roles, but it is not absolute. There are exceptions of course. Like Women can be Queen Shiba, in a leader role, she is recorded in Quran as being very wise. As long as women follow the basic etiquette like wear hijab, avoid too much men interaction and know her limitation in a womans body, she will be fine. :)

The oppression of women that you see comes mostly from hadith books written almost 300 years after the Prophet's death. These "sahih" collections like Bukhari and Muslim say the Prophet beat Aisha, kept sex slaves, married six year old girls, had eleven wives with whom he had sex in one night because Allah gave him the strength of 30 men, and acted like a warlord. This contradicts the Holy Quran which says Allah sent the Messenger as a mercy to mankind.

So when you object to 50 year old pedophiles in places like Afghanistan marrying 9 year old kids, they say it's part of the Sunnah. That's why so-called Islamic countries have no age of consent.

Scholars like Dr Israr Ahmed Khan and Atabek Shukurov have written books debunking the fake hadiths industry.

It's not all Muslim countries. The scholars of Central Asia don't tolerate this stuff. They imprison Saudi wannabes over there. Women have equal rights in Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

Praise be to Allah

To conclude: Islam raised the status of women, and made them equal with men in most rulings. So women, like men, are commanded to believe in Allaah and to worship Him. And women are made equal to men in terms of reward in the Hereafter. Women have the right to express themselves, to give sincere advice, to enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, and to call people to Allaah. Women have the right to own property, to buy and sell, to inherit, to give charity and to give gifts. It is not permissible for anyone to take a woman’s wealth without her consent. Women have the right to a decent life, without facing aggression or being wronged. Women have the right to be educated; in fact it is obligatory to teach them what they need to know about their religion.

Anyone who compares the rights of women in Islam with their situation during the Jaahiliyyah (pre-Islamic days of ignorance)or in other civilizations will understand that what we are saying is true. In fact we are certain that women are given the greatest honour in Islam.

There is no need for us to mention the situation of women in Greek, Persian or Jewish society, but even Christian societies had a bad attitude towards women. The theologians even gathered at the Council of Macon to discuss whether a woman was merely a body or a body with a soul. They thought it most likely that women did not have a soul that could be saved, and they made an exception only in the case of Mary (Maryam – peace be upon her).

The French held a conference in 586 CE to discuss whether women had souls or not, and if they had souls, were these souls animal or human? In the end, they decided that they were human! But they were created to serve men only.

During the time of Henry VIII, the English Parliament issued a decree forbidding women to read the New Testament because they were regarded as impure.

Until 1805, English law allowed a man to sell his wife, and set a wife’s price at six pennies.

In the modern age, women were kicked out of the house at the age of eighteen so that they could start working to earn a bite to eat. If a woman wanted to stay in the house, she had to pay her parents rent for her room and pay for her food and laundry.

See ‘Awdat al-Hijaab, 2/47-56.

How can this compare to Islam which enjoins honouring and kind treatment of women, and spending on them?

Secondly:

With regard to the changes in these rights throughout the ages, the basic principles have not changed, but with regard to the application of these principles, there can be no doubt that during the golden age of Islam, the Muslims applied the sharee’ah (Islamic law) of their Lord more, and the rulings of this sharee’ah include honouring one’s mother and treating one’s wife, daughter, sister and women in general in a kind manner. The weaker religious commitment grew, the more these rights were neglected, but until the Day of Resurrection there will continue to be a group who adheres to their religion and applies the sharee’ah (laws) of their Lord. These are the people who honour women the most and grant them their rights.

Despite the weakness of religious commitment among many Muslims nowadays, women still enjoy a high status, whether as daughters, wives or sisters, whilst we acknowledge that there are shortcomings, wrongdoing and neglect of women’s rights among some people, but each one will be answerable for himself.

The man pays Mehr, so that one makes sense.

I have bigger problem with

1: Our testimony only counting 1/2 of a man.
2: The guardian system.
3: Honor killings.
4: Female circumcision with the explicit purpose of making women "pure and dislike sex".
5: Domestic violence being rampant in Muslim countries. In Afghanistan more than 87 % of women experience violence.
Culture, culture, culture, culture, culture.
