Why couldn't a single muslim country be in top 25 best countries for women?

Should the result of the scientific studies lead to social changes in muslim countries?

You're done because you've run out of arguments.

There is no defending slavery, even sex slavery.
I’m not defending slavery. It’s disgusting. But different times, it was over 1400 years ago. The prophet Muhammad never forced himself on his slaves but it was common to have them. As it was common to drink alcohol, but today it’s prohibited

but intercourse has to be consensual. Rape is forbidden as it is violent, and Islamic texts legislated for the proper and honourable treatment of slaves. Even consensual sexual relations with a slave were not permissible if it caused harm and abuse elsewhere (e.g. to a wife) as all parties involved would be affected. Furthermore this is not an entitlement. Concubinage and interpersonal relations with various bondmaids/slaves was already occurring at the time the Quran came about and subsequent passages list restrictions as a starting point to help to bring about the end of slavery. In any case, marriage was encouraged (Chapter 24:32) with slaves. In fact, slavery was never endorsed by Islamic texts; rather it was something inherited from pre-Islamic cultures (pre-600s) that needed to be voluntarily and gradually weeded out of society through manumission, which was highly encouraged (Chapters 24:32-33 & 16:71). Islamic texts list a plethora of avenues to free slaves, as it was seen as a highly virtuous act. It’s difficult to find any references on how to make slavesout of people; rather the focus is always on ending slavery.

@Farax should the Muslim world start giving women more rights?
Are they lagging behind?
Do you believe in equality?
Are you against women not being allowed to divorce their husband?
Should Muslim countries work towards putting women in positions of power?
Should they move more towards secularism?
Would you describe yourself as a feminist?
Should a husband be allowed to hit his wife?
Will a wife be punished for refusing sex?

I’d like to hear your answers to these questions.

I feel that the answers of these questions are more useful to discuss than various translations of Islam’s stance on slavery, when slavery has been universally banned in functioning countries.

Shouldn't any system of government be judged on how much objective good it does for its citizens? How come Islamic countries fail in such regard to women?

Maybe you're afraid that the answer might be because Islam has kept toxic ideas about women and not confronted a culture that workships male superiority:dabcasar:

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be rude but I almost peed myself from laughter reading this:pachah1:

Consent and slavery:
Any sex with a person you hold power over, as inherent in the "your right hand possess" is considered rape by example correctional officers. That is even more-so the case with person who have not only been removed from their place of origin, had they families killed/escaped and is now being treated as sex slave (females only). In that circumstances consent does not exist anymore than if a person holds a gun to your head.

If your mom was taken by Christian Crusaders, your father killed and she now found herself in the hands of Christian warrior in a foreign country, would you think that any sex she had could be considered anything but rape?

The answer is clearly no, as consent requires you to a have a free choice and as slave bound you do not have any choice nor are you free.

Quran as perfect:
The reality is that the Quran is supposed to be perfect and last for all eternity. It allows not only for slavery but sexual slavery of women who are married jf. Quran 4: 24, you cannot ban something that Allah has decreed to be allowed.

ISIS is currently using it on Yazidi women, and the sad fact is that they have an islamic basis to enslave and rape these women. It being good/virtuous to do X, Z and Y to your slave does not change that the very institution of slavery has God's approval for all eternity.

Ok.
1. Yes,
2. Definitely, way behind in some countries mostly Arabs.
3. Yes, I do i was raised mostly by my mother. And she worked for a big law-firm and had to fight as a Muslim and as women.
4. Women should be able to divorce, but I believe in the teaching of the prophet and every couple should do it as they please.
5. They should, look over to Indonesia.
6. Not secularism but democracy
7. Kinda cuz I believe in equality
8. For no reason? No, but the Quran makes an exception in a really rare case, man are allowed.
9. By whom? Allah? Hell no. Her body her choice

I peed myself, now reading yours. I can’t argue with you when English is my fourth language and I can’t really bring my point across well enough for an atheist to understand it.

She is a lesbian atheist feminist. Three of the worst things. It would only be extra worse if she was Sufi or Shia instead of Atheist.
That is probably in a loveless marriage with a Somali man, being a good muslimah for her husband. And out here living out her alter ego.

Now we're getting somewhere :samwelcome:

How do you square allowing a man to beat his wife and being for equality? :mahubowtf:

Also Sahih Hadith from the Prophet directly says Angels are cursing a woman who deny her man sex in al-Bukhaari, 3237, the Quran makes reference to it too jf. Quran 2:228.
Are you going against the teaching of the Prophet and The Quran?? :gaasdrink:

English is my third language, you have no excuse.

I still believe in God, I just find his laws and moral teaching to be imperfect and illogical at best and would not impose them for those reasons. Secular theist is the name. :kanyeshrug:

You forgot „and he spends the night angry with her“ No man, will be actually angry for not having sex, maybe disappointed. It mostly means if the wife completely refuses sex.

The Quran doesn’t say women can’t hit back

I don’t impose my religion on anyone, rather defend it. My best friend is atheist/Christian
