In case you haven't noticed, United Sand- Agrabates plans to build bases in Eritrea, Somaliland and southern Yemen. They also want to build a base in Socotra. These bastards want to dominate Somali territories and expand their war against Iran and the Houthis into our turf. We've already had our country devistated by tribal war, we don't need to add sectarian violence as well. I urge all the Somali leaders to push against this American condom of a country that wants to play at war conveniently far away from it's own borders.:pacspit:

@Inquisitive_ what's your take on this bro?

Thats a worrying development, the last thing we need is to get involved in middle east wars.

The Houthi stuff is just cover, the same way 9/11 and the war on terror is for America to invade countries and loot their resources.

Iran is a threat but the reason why geopolitics is coming to the Horn with respect to UAE has very little to do with her and everything with China.

The Chinese silk road to the horn will be the most lucrative thing as well as her infrastructure projects, it brought all the Heyna's to the table, Turkey/Qatar/UAE/Iran/Saudi/Egypt etc. there is over 300 million people market, a huge market with a huge untapped natural resources.

The UAE strategy here is very simple, they received a massive wake up call when Turkey company took over Mogadishu port and tried to 'internationalise it' meaning ships could come to it directly without a detour to 'Dubai', keep in mind Somali's are the second biggest revenue for Dubai port after the Iranian's

Their oil has dried up and hence this was a massive wake-up call for them, they made a deal for the port of Djibouti under DP world, but the Chinese with Turkey/Qatar/Saudi backing have managed to pressure Djibouti to throw her out, which she did, there is still a legal fight over it.

As a result it went crazy and bought up Assab, Berbera, with pretty much also Bosaaso and Kismaayo, her strategy is to control those trade routes via ports and gain tremendous revenue as a result, those military bases are merely there to protect her assets in the case of U turns by the government like what happened in Djibouti, she learnt her lessons from it, Djibouti refused her a military base.

She even signed a deal at the infancy of HSM reign for Hobyo as well (that's how paranoid she was no one else getting their first) but hasn't shown much interest to it, luckily it was one of those deals with time limits to show progress, HSM was smart enough with these kind of deals he did, so that if he couldn't pocket much (they sat on it), he would be free to hand it over to another country and not be contractually bound.

This strategy would pretty much hand the horn of Africa on silver plate to her, only Djibouti (partially) and Mogadishu are free from her grasps, every other port she pretty much controls, including the strategic routes, it's pretty much what the American's did in the South China sea, Malacca strait, East China sea.

It also serves as a military strategic outpost and a tool to be used to pressurise and tame particularly Ethiopia or anyone else not playing ball, much like America blockaded Japan during World war 2.

The Iranian's are just a thorn in their backs with respect to this region, much of their smuggling of weapons is via Oman, with the backing of Turkey it opened up a second shipping route towards Somalia via Oman few years ago after UAE/GCC countries blocked Turkey from Mogadishu international project, this hit the UAE pretty hard and hence her very aggressive actions in this region.

Socotra Island will be used to cut off this secondary shipping route via Oman into Somalia, forcing back to the Dubai transit route to cut off Turkey Oman route opened up to hurt Dubai transit port were they tax all of us to death.

This is all Geopolitics and interests, this warfare has gone into the Air as well in the Horn of Africa, Turkish Airlines Vs Emirates airline. Turkish airline service Mogadishu, were as Fly Dubai goes towards S/land. They are competing in this market, as well as the whole of Africa as an emerging new market.

Ultimately UAE wants regime change in both Ethiopia as well as Southern Somalia and become the complete overlord there, the latter she lost due to the election backing the wrong horse, as for Ethiopia, had it not been for China/Saudi money and support that's keeping them alive, they would have collapsed already, so the battle is still ongoing there.

The Saudi's have massive investment in terms of agriculture and food, they can't afford it to fall into the UAE/Egypt sphere of influence, the Ethiopian's had discussions with Guleed to build a port in Hobyo along with the Chinese that paid a visit there, but the lack of infrastructure, insecurity has put that one on hold.

But I remember that The hobye port was funded by Iraq 's government during the Iraq 's prime minister 's visit to Mogadishu. However I liked UAE for they put SL's separation on hold. Plus the Egyptians at berbera base will stop any plans of annexation of SL to Ethiopia.

That was all BS straight from the Damul Jadiid Guleed handbook to keep the people quiet, the Iraqi's businessman were there for fishing rights which Guleed gave to them but have since been cancelled due to the world bank new deal. Even the ministers spoke out, it was cheap PR. P/land took that opportunity to scaremonger the UAE that Iran was building a base under the guise of Iraq for extra funding. Guleed's PR caused us problems with UAE.

I support this UAE presence in S/land, I have wrote an extensive post about it why and you touched upon some of them, it takes all the heat away from us and puts more heat on Ethiopia, it will benefit both if the UAE follow through with their promises which they have a habit of always braking, they had like 40 promises they broke in Xamar alone.

I hope Farmaajo doesn't say anything about this deal public-ally at least, it will be suicide. It's a big blessing in disguise, both regions will develop which is what I ultimately want and Ethiopia out of the game with her influence.
