Health minister Nadine Dorries has tested positive for coronavirus and a member of her staff is ill.

Ms Dorries is self-isolating at home and has appealed to fellow MPs to get in touch if they have recently been in contact with her, Sky News understands.


She is the first MP in the UK to be diagnosed with COVID-19, as the virus spread further on Tuesday.

Labour's Rachael Maskell revealed she had been advised by the NHS 111 helpline to self-isolate following a meeting with Ms Dorries last Thursday, even though she is displaying no symptoms of COVID-19.

She told Sky News she would continue her work as an MP by holding meetings over the phone, adding: "This will become a norm over the coming weeks and days as we are seeing more people being diagnosed with coronavirus."

Manchester City and Arsenal's Premier League meeting at the Etihad on Wednesday night has been postponed "as a precautionary measure" due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Arsenal identified on Tuesday that a number of their players had met Evangelos Marinakis, the Olympiakos owner, who has contracted Covid-19.


Marinakis visited the Emirates when Arsenal hosted Olympiakos in the Europa League on 27 February - 13 days ago - and came into close contact with club personnel.

The only way it could be a conspiracy is if the US wanted to f*ck with Chinese New Year and the economic surge that always happens. This year it was a small uptick in economic activity since coronavirus messed with it. But the Chinese are buying American products and using American services like Apple phones, fashion brands and investing so they're shooting themselves in the foot.

Look at this neolib CNN shill. You think America was gonna sit by and just let China consolidate their grip on the global economy? They can't have a direct conflict so this is how you do it. Maybe they don't want the Chinese to control the asian continent since it's investing alot of money in different Asian countries. They are planning to control the asian sea routes and trades which Americans don't like to see
