I don't buy that Somalis consider gaal Somalis as non-Somali. When I was an unbeliever during my gaal phase, many Somalis were telling me to return to the fold because "you are Somali". Her being a gaal isn’t the problem, we have gaal like @Kisame and he is still considered to be a Somali. The problem is Ayan is a coon that does nothing for her people other than insult them. This, gaal somalis are fully exiled from the community, its a red line you cannot cross. After we gradually reverted to Islam, it has fortunately become part of our identity. Many of our pre-islamic practices have been turned Islamic for example.

Leaving Islam is basically exiling yourselves from your people. You are somali but not accepted until you revert back. Fortunately most not mentally ill somali murtads come back to Allah SWT.

Try publicly being a Nazi or Far-right in west, you'll get excommunicated. Try being a Muslim in a Hindu or Buddhist region, try being pro American in China.
