Majority of Somalis can’t speak Arabic at all only know a few Arabic words but not enough to hold a conversation

The only Somalis that can speak Arabic are the ones who have lived in an Arabic country or Somalis who are Xamar cadcad

Apart from Islamic Schools it's never used.

It's just an official language in title.
This is from a site

Arabic is also one of the official national languages spoken in Somalia. The language is spoken by many Somalis. The importance of the Arabic language in Somalia is due to the age-old cultural and ethnic connections between the Arab world and the Somalis

Arabic is mostly used among Arabs and in schools as part of the education system

Maybe something to show the Arabs that we are still brothers in religion and aren't going to go back to our Suffi ways

Wait...:lawd:Why doesn’t Somalia choose Italian as an official language just like Djibouti speaks French and Somaliland speak English

Because in order to be a part of of the Arab league you have to have Arabic as a main language also Arabic is taught in school and dugsi most young somalis back home have some sort of Arabic knowledge

Thanks to MSB, the language didn't have a lasting effect on us, since anything related to the west was capitalist and we were socialists. Also, the Italians weren't like the British or French, they had an odd approach to Somalia. Also, they didn't have 100% control of the regions that they colonized- they once almost lost to a few cans that united under 2 or 3 Sultans, at the end they had to call on Ethiopia, Britain for back up and threaten the Ottomans with sanctions if they didn't stop supplying weapons:ftw9nwa::ftw9nwa:

By teaching foreign languages at primary and secondary, it will weaken Af Somali. Arabic should be only in Uni

Look at this video
Af Somali can be learnt at home as a mother tongue and English/French/Italian/Arabic will be used as commercial languages which can give you jobs which can help your Motherland:fittytousand:
This will help us build our countries from the rubble
