Why is arabic the official language in Somalia?

Af Somali can be learnt at home as a mother tongue and English/French/Italian/Arabic will be used as commercial languages which can give you jobs which can help your Motherland
This will help us build our countries from the rubble

French and Italian are completely useless. We have to promote Af Somali and instill that pride in next generation of Somalis and protect Af Somali

In the field of culture, Somalis are primarily amongst the takers in this world, since we've largely made no contribution to Human civilisation & have mostly taken culture, religion & technology from other races & nations that have built superior civilisations & cultures that are classed as the "givers" or influencers in the hierarchy

The Arabs gave us their Arabic language, Islam, many loanwords and cultural attires. Other Nations, such as the Italians & other Euros have also influenced us to a certain extent, but the Arabs have made the largest contribution to the Somali identity.

I know few of family members can speak Arabic fluently because in their school Arabic language is part of the curriculum. Also most of the schools in Somalia funded/invested by the arabs.

We did make that one Sudanese empire I believe it's name was Kerma.

It was founded before Cushites migrated to the horn of Africa so at least we can claim we contributed to human civilization by building one of the oldest civilisations in Africa.

Let's be real guys, the main reason why Arabic has always & will always remain a prestigious language in Somalia is due to our closeness to Islam & the strong Arab soft-power in that part of the world that they've enjoyed for centuries.

The only scenario in which Af-Somali would become prestigious & the only official language in Somalia would be in a nationalist secular state, however the likelihood of that ever happening is very low.

MSA sounds hilarious. I'm glad I grew up with Sudani dialect.
