It’s just my observation.

Mariin is reddish brown. Traditionally, Somalis praised physical features over skin tone ( height, slim, ample ankles, high cheekbones, fanax, dark gums etc) this obsession with skin tone has become prevalent in recent years.

About self hate. Everyone is entitled to their preferences. You could easily say Ilhan Omar is full of self hate for marrying an cadaan but I wont say that.
