no it is not. The standard somali language is spoken in the galbeed and waqooyi.

Define standard somali? :farmajoyaab:

Modern Standard is based mainly on the Mudug Dialect; only minor differences are to be found in the dialect of the Benadir Region the capital of which is also the national capital, Mogadisho.

Institute for the Study of Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, 1976

Somali belongs to the Cushitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic language family. There are several distinct varieties, only some of which are mutually intelligible; standard Somali is based on the Mudug dialect spoken in the central region.

I can quote from more academia if you want it's universally known maybe you are uninformed. It's the dialect that's most intelligible to all Somalis which is what made it standard.

Do you even speak the standard first?

Speaking about gabay, hadraawi the widely acclaimed poet is recognized as the Shakespeare of somali literature.

Even MSB use to imitate mudug accent and tried to wash away his galbeedi accent, like Obama washing off his southside chicago accent :pachah1:

The standard somali should be the most used somali, and most somalis speak with northern and western dialect. people in mudug are a tiny minority in comparison.

"' Somali linguistic varieties are broadly divided into three main groups: Northern, Benadir and Maay. Northern Somali (or Nsom[4] ) forms the basis for Standard Somali.[5]
The most extensive publication on the subject is Marcello Lamberti's 'Die Somali-Dialekte'. [6] Both Lamberti (1986) and Blench (2006) separate Central and Benadir into two distinct groups, Digil and Maay and Benadir and Ashraaf, respectively: [7][8]

Benadir

Northern Somali (Nsom) dialect subgroups
Northern Somali is spoken by more than 60% of the entire Somali population. [4] Its primary speech area stretches from northern Somalia to parts of the eastern and southwestern sections of the country. [9] This widespread modern distribution is a result of a long series of southward population movements over the past ten centuries from the Gulf of Aden littoral. [10] Northern Somali is subdivided into three dialects: Northern Somali proper (spoken in the northwest), the Darod group (spoken in the northeast and along the eastern Ethiopia frontier), and the Lower Juba group (spoken by northern Somali settlers in the southern riverine areas). [4] Northern Somali has frequently been used by famous Somali poets as well as the political elite, and thus has the most prestige out of the Somali dialects. [11] Due to being wide spread, it forms the basis for Standard Somali.[12] Most of the classical Somali poetry is recited and composed in the Northern Somali dialect. [4]
Lamberti divides Northern Somali into three subgroups:[8]
Northern Somali proper: spoken in the regions of Woqooyi Galbeed ,
Togdheer, Sanaag and Sool, Somaliland. The dialects belonging to this group are called Af-Ciise, Af-Geedabuursi, Af-Isaaq and partially Af-Warsangeli and Af-Dolbahaante.
' Darod group : spoken in the regions of Bari , Nugal, Mudug , in the Somali Region of Ethiopia and along the Ethiopian border in the regions of
Galguduud , Bakool and Gedo . The dialects of this group are the North-Eastern dialects (including Af-Warsangeli and Af Dolbahaante), Af Ogaadeen, Af-Degodiya, Af-Wardeyg and Af-Marrehaan. Greatest number of speakers overall.
Lower Juba group : spoken by the part of the Northern Somali population which have immigrated into the Lower Juba region in the last 100/150 years."

for emphasis " Northern Somali has frequently been used by famous Somali poets as well as the political elite, and thus has the most prestige out of the Somali dialects. [11] Due to being wide spread, it forms the basis for Standard Somali.[12] Most of the classical Somali poetry is recited and composed in the Northern Somali dialect. [4]"

let it sink.

it isn't about being right or wrong tho, I think u misunderstood.
I am saying the standard somali should be the one that most somalis speak. Not to mention the north and the west somalis contributed a lot more to somali than mudug did in terms of poetry and music. So what criteria are u using to say af mudug is standard? other than the false argument that it's the most intelligible?

Mudug is the standard in South Somalia. I honestly can't understand a word waqooyi people say.
Dont you fucking say standard! say widely understood. when u say standard you are hijacking the somali language and establishing new one.

go google what standard means ffs.

and yh you dont understand because you are illiterate in your language. not bad tho as most ppl who were born in foreign countries lose cultural identity and language.

there aren't any difference between somali galbeed and waqooyi . don't ogadenis in jubbaland speak somali galbeed ?

There are differences. For starters a lot of Somali Galbeed say 'r' not dh although some do. As for the Ogaden there's three types in Jubaland. The original Ogaden jubalanders who've always been there, they speak in the Waamo dialect and it sounds unique and nothing like you'll have heard before. The other two types were settled by Siyad Barre or Ahmed Madobe and they speak with Galbeed accent.
