In the Somali language, there are obvious regional differences seeing as the people from Kismayo who understand and speak maxaa tiri wouldn’t speak the same as people from Hargeisa. Xidhay is from the north, Xiray is the central-south but more universal nonetheless since waqooyi people would still understand xiray. Central Somalia so Mudug is the clearest Somali for everyone to use.

It’s like American/Canadian English aren’t the same as British English, both are understood by the other but British English is standard in the U.K and vice versa.

also im baffled alot of southern people think waqooyi is exclusively somaliland or british somaliland territory alone. not knowing northern somalia or somalis means all the inhabitants in somaliland and all daaroods in sland and plan and northeastern somalis in ethiopia and as jubbaland northern somalis who make up the 60% of somali population who speak the northern somali dialect that forms the basis of STANDARD SOMALI language.
