true for my area, the worst you'll have is racism/islamophobia. you'll hear the words "", terrorist and "allahu akbar" said to u mockily every once in a whileDepends, really. Where I lived the worst Somali people got was some racism by whites (the landlord in my old neighborhood comes to mind) but for the most part but it wasn't too bad. I think a user who lives in San Diego or Minneapolis might give you a clearer answer.
Florida is a complete mystery.![]()

Really? That's strange, thought it happens everywhere
Bruh, out of curiosity from your question I googled information about obesity in America and it turns out that two out of every three Americans are considered overweight and obeseHow are all of you not obese? I spent three weeks in your country eating at various places and gained 9 kg. Thank God i left before i became a fatass![]()
I'm not from San Diego. Stop trying to place me, warya. I'm unplaceable.

I mean I knew obesity in America was a problem but I didn't think it was THAT bad. Is fast food not as big of an industry in other countries? In some cities you'll have several McDonald's or several Burger Kings, for example.
ChimichangasHow do you feel about foreign news outlets? All the mainstream American channels seem so... sensationalised and stereotypical. Sometimes it feels like it's straight out of a movie. I sort of got used to it, but when I first really started paying attention to it, it just seemed ridiculous to me. By no means am I implying European media is any more credible though.
Also can you guys stop deep frying burritos. Caadi iska dhiga fam
So I noticed that a lot of users here are from Europe or so, and that sometimes users would ask how this-and-that functioned in America. I figured it couldn't hurt to have a thread about this kind of stuff, and I thought that maybe my fellow American Somalis could help as well. So, ask away.

Sometimes in the waiting room the cancer patients go head to head with the diabetics and the doctors usually bet like $300 on each patientHow many is allowed for the hospitals hunger games? I've heard diabetics are sought after
How many times have y'all been sent to Guantanomo?
When the police beat you, do they warn you first or do you just ready yourself for the ass-whopping?
What kind of secret monitoring device do you prefer the government use in Mosques next year?
How many middle-east civilians is required before the US is happy? Is the kill ratio 2-1 or more?

I tweeted about how my favorite color was blue on Twitter and the FBI investigated because I forgot red and white, the colors of the flag, but they skipped me to focus on a Muslim that sneezed 50 yards away from Ground Zero. I heard that he's still over there.
The police will quite literally teleport (no one knows if it's some sort of secret technology or magic) near anyone with melanin levels over a certain threshold and proceed to beat the shit out of them if they so much as breathe in their general direction. My nigga Mahad had to learn that the hard way
The government has now decided to examine the timir offered at masjids to see if there's anyway a Muslim might use them as a bomb. I saw a white man in a fake beard and a thobe that looked like it was made in a Party City store sneak out the back of the masjid with a box of them.
Yeah they're just trying to eradicate them off the face of the earth, no ifs ands or buts.

I am more than aware of the truth about your statements, I was poking fun at them myself. I assumed you were bringing them up in a joking manner as well. I named the dates story as true in particular because obviously a Muslim has not been sent to Gitmo for sneezing, for example. America's got problems, I'd have to be blind to not see them or criticize them. There is truth to everyone of them
1: Hunger-games: Hospitals won't treat unless you have money, making it a money-based hunger-game, and for long-term illnesses the Emergency and Medical treatment and active labor act don't apply here.
2: Guantanamo is still open and 99 % of the inhabitants are muslim and most are not guilty
3: Police beat somali man, and because mental illness is a factor in our community it increases the risk of shooting
4. FBI does and continue to monitor mosques: http://www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2015/12/court-mulls-fbi-mosque-surveillance-216529
5: More than 100.000 died in Iraq and the US led coallation has killed 482 civilians
Land of the brave and home of the free is now satire

As for the police shooting, are you referring to Abdirahman Abdi? Because that actually happened in Canada. And Gitmo has had its prisoners decreased from 245 to 41 under Obama, though the amount of Muslims and the oft questionable circumstances by which they were imprisioned are very worrisome. Obama promised to shut it down completely but that didn't come through either, unfortunately. And the issue isn't exactly hospitals, it's health insurance companies refusing to take in people with "preexisting conditions," leaving the very high costs of treatment to the patient. But on the whole you are correct about the hypocrisy that is present in America
I'm honestly worried about raising a child in any Western country tbh. I'm not too entirely familiar with the culture of the UK, I think I'd need to visit to be sure.Would you rather raise your children here og in America?
In places with a visible Somali population, like Minneapolis, people can usually tell they are Somali. My experience in living in a town without other Somalis has shown that people who are not familiar with them will assume an assortment of classifications, like Indian, Arab, Ethiopian, mixed race, and African-American. I had an African-American friend tell me that she could tell I was Somali because I had a certain "look," like how members of some ethnic groups look similar to one another. Are Somalis easily identifiable in the US by the various races? Because, in the UK every tom, babatunde and patel can spot a Somali from a mile off.
Nacala saliid foqal saliid this is why Americans are so fat
I heard that some of them deep-fry sticks of butter also
How do you FRY BUTTER, ya allah
America is truly a cursed nation![]()
Does the right to bear arms means you have to go around carrying the arms of bears?
Or is it something equally retarded?
