J1 update (Big Y)! Could some Hartis be relatives of the Yemeni/Saudi tribe Khawlan?

After upgrading our FamilyTree Y-DNA 37 to the Big Y, our haplogroup has been updated to a deeper J-ZS8897.

Our closest relatives so far is a Somali who is Warsangeli and the Khawlan tribe of Yemen/Saudi Arabia.

J1 is rare in Somalis. After all this DNA research what we have learned for sure is Somalis are crazy ! That's about it!

The main paternal Somali haplogroups are E1b1b1 (E-Y18629), T1a1a (T-Y45591), and some J1. In the autosomal dna testing where they look at all of your DNA not only your paternal ydna, all tribes are connected.

We need more people to take the FamilyTreeDNA tests. It’s crazy because all the tribes have split at least in 2 or 3 different ways lol.

This test will be the start to correcting our tribal issues. Start at 37 markers unless you got some extra money you can go higher but I'd recommend starting there.

If everyone takes one test it'll change the minds of many. If our forefathers came together from different places under the banner of our land and religion we can do the same.

Those interested can join the FTDNA Somali project online. I wish we had more researchers or databases but this is one I know and they are quite knowledgeable.

Let me know if you know any other Somali J1 / J-M267 etc!

I recently uploaded our data to YFull and waiting on interpretation. You can see it below.

Alhamdulillah I am South Arabian Haplogroup T

Not proven yet. The Iran>Levant>Egypt>North Sudan>Horn route is still on the table for Somali T carriers (T-Y16897).

For this J1 (J-ZS5383) is more obviously South Semitic. I am not certain on the Somali T guys. Too little data.

 You must know that it was before modern Persians. They spoke an extinct proto-Dravidian related language back then. See this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elamo-Dravidian_languages

Check out this new study. It confirms that ancient Iranians and Dravidians (Indus Valley civilization) were connected.

There is a small minority with J1. Yeah, the title is a bit misleading. She means the J1 people who claim Harti.

Could it be that a minority within Warsangeli who carry J1 aka custodians of the Daarood graves helped spread the "We Wuz Arabs" rumour?

How far back is this J1 from?

@ladysomali206

Are you Warsangeli?

I've met a Warsan family that has semitic noses and they look mixed.

I know there are many light skinned Somalis but that semetic hooked nose is not normal for ethnic Somalis.

Not all Warsangelis are J1. I think possibly even a minority of them are J1, the majority are probably E1b1b1. Many Warsangeli results come back with E.

Seemingly some J1 tribe has spread into parts of the Harti area.

I don't think it proves the Darod is Banu Hashim theory. It is most likely some other unknown merchant that was incorporated into certain subclans.

I talked to one J-M267 guy and two J1s on 23andme. J-M267 was Warsangeli and the other 2 were Arab Salah. Surprisingly they were all close to 100% Somali, I thought Arab Salah were Yemenis :whoo:
