Now that I think about it, it was the Italians who built Mogadishu, to be honest. It was the Italians who made Mogadishu the white pearl of the Indian Ocean. Every single landmark was built by Italians. I prefer their architecture to modern Somali houses.

I don’t know about the accuracy, but if it’s true and they get back and retain the farmlands, they’ll soon outperform the locals by industrializing on a large scale. They may even buy out the surrounding areas if it’s profitable and the security concerns isn’t no longer an issue.

Was angry for a minute until I realised I live in a white mans country and Somalia benefited massively from Italy after colonisation. Practically somalis were given free scholarships in Italy and almost every military police was trained there.

They can have Casa Italia but farms and church properties should not be given back. They can invest with but not own.

I also noticed the man was speaking english, just shows how little is left of italys influence on somalis. Its almost nonexistent outside of few loanwords related to kitchen utensils and football/soccer.

Imo, this is all in vain, Italy will be struck hard soon by economic recession and Somalia will not be lucrative place to invest this decade.

This is from an article prior to HSM meeting with Italian PM. And as we're seeing now, HSM have agreed to return assets belonging to them. Everything will be returned to them in due time. They'll probably even try to open the church once again post-AS.

The Federal Government of Somalia will be required to issue an official statement on the unresolved issue of assets expropriated in Mogadishu by clans politically dominant in Mogadishu.”

I haven’t forgotten but I can’t change history. Italy won and almost all clans were eager to work with them. Thats how they won. Im looking from the perspective how can Somalia benefit from them today. We are in a extremely shitty situation and have to climb from this hole.
