You weren't buck broken unless you're an Adoon wannabe; they didn't force you to choose Christianity like all others; they didn't force you to change your language and speak theirs like all that happened in Africa. You can't deny the Italians taught us how to farm with technology and industries; they only occupied us, but we benefited the most from them.

And? We’re supposed be grateful for the bare minimum of treatment (even though they were abhorrent in their treatments of the locals too)?

We had large communities of farmers prior to the arrival of Italians.The Italians used many people, Bantus in particular, to work in slave like conditions in their own plantations etc

They did intend to change our language by making Italian the only official language. Many Somalis in urban areas spoke it as they didn’t have option to learn in Somali. And the list goes on. I suggest that you go back and read more on the history of Italy in Somalia.

Although I believe the Somali people should be among the first to retrieve their property.
This is a step in the right direction, not only does this send a message to the international community that Somalia is open for business. It also shows that the Somali government will uphold accountability. InshaAllah more properly will be returned.
