Somalis didn’t even used to pray back in the day. They’d steal camels and ask the sheikhs to make it halal for them and in return the sheikhs get a share.Sufism had its time in Somalia just like shi’ism

I have noticed the people who promote sufism on here usually have the most liberal takes generally.

It is almost like they think that sufism is a more liberal form of Islam and that is why they promote it. Yet it is dying out and unlikely to ever return, even with big governmental support from the west it has been unsuccessful.

The taliban are sufi. It’s an Islamophobic view of Islam where there’s a “harmless nice” version of Islam, as if politics comes from religion!

Most people are nothing they just follow there local imam but the default postion of somalis is being ashari. I have studied both maturdi and ashari. hanifis are mainly maturdi and shafis are mainly ashari while hambalis are mainly salafi. Us somalis aren't hanbalis and it's a new thing with in our communities to even be salafi its only been the last 30 years that any salafis have even been around and they only began to exist because of Saudi funding.
