It’s true most don’t but they learn their deen from their sheikhs and schools. Most Sunni scholars from the 3 madhabs I listed like 10 times are ashari or maturidi.
Some of y’all have a hard time accepting that.
Ask them to elaborate. Ask them if that means Allah swt isn’t everywhere? Everywhere includes the sky.

We are a majority (which is a dubious claim because of varying beliefs) is not a argument. The sahabah were much closer to the athari position than the ashari position which is to believe without asking how.
I respect his opinion but we aren’t here to discuss aqeedah. This is about Somalia and the rest of the Muslim worlds aqeedah.
Al-Albani was a Salafi Athari. His position is pretty obvious.

Yeah those talking points are the standard athari talking points I don't wanna get bogged down in aqidah but If I remember tomorrow or bother since I can't be bothered with this topic I'll send what I have written on the topic I just need to go through my notes and find it. I have it all in a lot more detail and fully explained but if you ask me it's a pointless discussion to have

I have noticed the people who promote sufism on here usually have the most liberal takes generally.
It is almost like they think that sufism is a more liberal form of Islam and that is why they promote it. Yet it is dying out and unlikely to ever return, even with big governmental support from the west it has been unsuccessful.
Its such a bizarre claim from them, almost like they are never around Somalis, been to a predominantly Somali Masjid, or Somalia.

Anyone could tell you Somalis had plenty of Sufis back then. Al Shabaab will be cleansed and we will return to the right path of Shafi'i Sunnis.

You know the Sufis in Somalia are Shafi'i Sunnis, right? My whole family is Qadirriya Sufis, I don't understand why you people constantly slander Sufis. I observe Islam just like the majority of Somalis, and if you asked your older relatives, you'd find that we're normal.
