I was born light skin. I can show you baby photos. I think it has more to do with sun exposure. I'm pale in the winter but turn carmel during the summer.

its just somalis have diverse skin tone my moms the lightest somali i know and she doesn't tan grew up in somalis heat and the gulf and she still pale its just how your born.

The answer is contour mixed with living in cold western countries. And better conditions of living which means you dont look "rough". You can see a clear difference between women back home and women here. Not that one is more beautiful then the other.
