It's all about lineage, for example my mom is Habar Yoonis but I'm not Habar Yoonis because my father is Sa'ad Muuse. Do you understand? So if your father is French then you are mostly French. Because as a Muslim you are generally not allowed to claim your Mom's lineage as it is a major sin. It is no racism. If you have your Mom hailing from a different clan than your Dad you can beat your chest all you want but you are of your Dad's clan it don't matter if you grew up with your Mom's clan.
The same logic is applied when marrying ajnabis.

Our religion doesn't describe our ethnicity. Also again take the example of a man marries a ajnabi then has a son which also marries an ajnabi. The children would still be considered Somali even though they have 25% Somali DNA. Suppose we were to carry that on , it seems describing our ethnicity based on our fathers linage would be counter productive.

Above all , if we consider the clan lineages. I guess were all Arab since all the tribes supposedly descended from Arabs ?
