Bit of both. People are more unfiltered with their feelings and beliefs on the internet due to anonymity. Also irl people people tone it down as they are interacting with actual people they know/care about along with social norms.

Most guys are misogynists as a joke, it's just funny. When in reality they're pretty chill. From what I know I've rarely ever met a guy who fits into the "simp" category. Don't confuse troo simping for the people online who will call anything that's not outright disrespectful towards a woman simping.

There is no "true face" for most guys, every person is unique and has a different attitude. Just because we're the same gender doesn't mean we all act the same.

People who automatically assume good looking people have a bland personality or are vain are usually jealous af. Just because someone is ugly doesn't mean they have a good sense of humour.
