Mate, I promise you, we really aren’t the worst with gender wars. Other communities drag their men/women through the mud for less offline & online. We as Somalis are an excessively loud & gossipy drama ridden bunch for our own good so people zero in on us. Non Somali women make videos that slander their men day in & day out in super graphic details, men openly talk on podcasts about being “passport bros” and looking abroad to find a wife because they can’t stand their own women at all. We might have some chronically online and excessively loud internet people but we are much better off than those other types. X

I wish I had a screenshot of it but I saw Halima Aden on twitter once clap back at some Arabs who were commenting snarky things about her being a hijab wearing model and leaving the industry. She said that it’s always a certain demographic of women who are extremely jealous and insecure and always wanted what she and other Somali women got without begging - becoming supermodels. She said they couldn’t stand how Somali women were supermodels but you couldn’t name an Arab equivalent or something like that. God I wish I could find it.
