Why did this stereotype come from?

Where did the big booty Somali male stereotype come from? Most of y’all are skinny little things. I actually feel offended on you guys behalf. And these are Somali boys perpetuating this too. I can’t believe they went viral with this garbage. Where is the self respect?

Ajnabis are laughing at you, not with you. I feel like some Somalis have internalized the disrespect we get for just being Somali.

I am of the opinion that Somali born in Diaspora SHOULD NOT claim Somali at all. They should just say DieSpomali. It makes sense right? They seem to be enjoying the perks of being a Somali, which is a strong bond of identity that they don't deserve.

its a deformity known as lordosis the muscles that are located in the lower end of the body are pushing the lumbar spine witch makes it appear as if u have a large but combine that with being obese or just sitting around allot and u get fuutoweyn u can get rid of it through working out

Hahaha I swear the most disrespect we get is from madows. I don’t know why they hate us so much. Like what have we done? Aren’t we all black like they tell us?

The Blacks hate is from jealousy. The best thing to do is stay away from those who envy you, or u know, sometimes when unaware, walking, they might just walk by you and suddenly knock u out ! The envy devil is strong

That’s not it though, most African countries are garbage. I love my fellow black people regardless of nationality, but we can’t deny that there is some tension. There seems to be a general disdain for Somalis that is never called out and discrimination against us is taken lightly. The only other people who I see get picked on a lot too are the Dominicans.

i get what u mean and the reasoning for us getting hate from other africans has to do with identity since we haven't been in the west for a long time we still keep on to our identity as such we associate ourself with the somali label more then the black or african im assuming the same goes for the dominicans as they would rather stick to that label rather then black one

Yeah, I used to have this problem. It's the Somali diet and posture that causes Faraxs to look like that. The problem is easily solvable: just lower your carb intake (no basto and bariis) and make sure you get daily exercise.

As we all know somalis are stereotyped for having a fat bum and weird looking knees i took the time to research these stereotypes and what i found out is that they are physical deformities known as Lordosis and knock knees.

Lordosis
Lordosis is historically defined as an abnormal inward curvature of the lumbar spine.[1] [2] However, the terms lordosis and lordotic are also used to refer to the normal inward curvature of the lumbar and cervical regions of the human spine.[3] Similarly, kyphosis historically refers to abnormal convex curvature of the spine. The normal outward (convex) curvature in the thoracic and sacral regions is also termed kyphosis or kyphotic. The term comes from the Greek lordōsis, from lordos ("bent backward").[4]

Lordosis in the human spine makes it easier for humans to bring the bulk of their mass over the pelvis. This allows for a much more efficient walking gait than that of other primates, whose inflexible spines cause them to resort to an inefficient forward leaning "bent-knee, bent-waist" gait. As such, lordosis in the human spine is considered one of the primary physiological adaptations of the human skeleton that allows for human gait to be as energetically efficient as it is.[5]

Measurement and diagnosis of lumbar hyperlordosis can be difficult. Obliteration of vertebral end-plate landmarks by interbody fusion may make the traditional measurement of segmental lumbar lordosis more difficult. Because the L4–L5 and L5–S1 levels are most commonly involved in fusion procedures, or arthrodesis, and contribute to normal lumbar lordosis, it is helpful to identify a reproducible and accurate means of measuring segmental lordosis at these levels.[15][16] A visible sign of hyperlordosis is an abnormally large arch of the lower back and the person appears to be puffing out his or her stomach and buttocks.

Precise diagnosis is done by looking at a complete medical history, physical examination and other tests of the patient. X-rays are used to measure the lumbar curvature. On a lateral X-ray, a normal range of the lordotic curvature of between 20° and 60° has been proposed by Stagnara et al., as measured from the inferior endplate of Th12 to the inferior endplate of L5.[17] The Scoliosis Research Society has proposed a range of 40° and 60° as measured between the upper endplate of Th12 and the upper endplate of S1.[17] Individual studies, although using other reference points, have found normal ranges up to approximately 85°.[17] It is generally more pronounced in females.[17] It is relatively constant through adolescence and young adulthood, but decreases in the elderly.[17]

Treatment[edit]
Exercises[edit]
Some corrective exercises can be done to alleviate this issue, it may take several months to fix (provided that the person sits less, stands with a neutral pelvis and sleeps on their back).

Since lumbar hyperlordosis is usually caused by habitual poor posture, rather than by an inherent physical defect like scoliosis or hyperkyphosis, it can be reversed.[6] This can be accomplished by stretching the lower back, hip-flexors, quads and strengthening the abdominal muscles, hamstrings and glutes.[citation needed] Strengthening the gluteal complex is a commonly accepted practice to reverse excessive lumbar lordosis, as an increase in gluteals muscle tone assist in the reduction excessive anterior pelvic tilt and lumbar hyperlordosis.[19] Local intra-articular hip pain has been shown to inhibit gluteal contraction potential,[20] meaning that hip pain could be a main contributing factor to gluteal inhibition. Dancers should ensure that they don't strain themselves during dance rehearsals and performances. To help with lifts, the concept of isometric contraction, during which the length of muscle remains the same during contraction, is important for stability and posture.[21]

Lumbar hyperlordosis may be treated by strengthening the hip extensors on the back of the thighs, and by stretching the hip flexors on the front of the thighs.

Only the muscles on the front and on the back of the thighs can rotate the pelvis forward or backward while in a standing position because they can discharge the force on the ground through the legs and feet. Abdominal muscles and erector spinae can't discharge force on an anchor point while standing, unless one is holding his hands somewhere, hence their function will be to flex or extend the torso, not the hip[citation needed]. Back hyper-extensions on a Roman chair or inflatable ball will strengthen all the posterior chain and will treat hyperlordosis. So too will stiff legged deadlifts and supine hip lifts and any other similar movement strengthening the posterior chain without involving the hip flexors in the front of the thighs. Abdominal exercises could be avoided altogether if they stimulate too much the psoas and the other hip flexors.

Controversy regarding the degree to which manipulative therapy can help a patient still exists. If therapeutic measures reduce symptoms, but not the measurable degree of lordotic curvature, this could be viewed as a successful outcome of treatment, though based solely on subjective data. The presence of measurable abnormality does not automatically equate with a level of reported symptoms.[22]

This absolutely nothing to do with identity, stop putting it that way. This actually a major problem in our youth as a lot of the kids store fat in lower body area; diet may also have a part to play in this epidemic too. I get why you don't want to look "Adoon", but this problem is cause of laziness and horrible diet, not some features that Allah (swt) gave us.

knock knees
Genu valgum, commonly called "knock-knee", is a condition in which the knees angle in and touch each other when the legs are straightened. Individuals with severe valgus deformities are typically unable to touch their feet together while simultaneously straightening the legs. The term originates from the Latin genu, 'knee', and valgus which actually means 'bent outwards', but in this case, it is used to describe the distal portion of the knee joint which bends outwards and thus the proximal portion seems to be bent inwards. For citation and more information on uses of the words Valgus and Varus, please visit the internal link to -varus.

Mild genu valgum is diagnosed when a person standing upright with the feet touching also shows the knees touching. It can be seen in children from ages 2 to 5, and is often corrected naturally as children grow. However, the condition may continue or worsen with age, particularly when it is the result of a disease, such as rickets. Idiopathic genu valgum is a form that is either congenital or has no known cause.

Other systemic conditions may be associated, such as Schnyder crystalline corneal dystrophy, an autosomal dominant condition frequently reported with hyperlipidemia.

The degree of genu valgum can clinically be estimated by the Q angle, which is the angle formed by a line drawn from the anterior superior iliac spine through the center of the patella and a line drawn from the center of the patella to the center of the tibial tubercle. In women, the Q angle should be less than 22 degrees with the knee in extension and less than 9 degrees with the knee in 90 degrees of flexion. In men, the Q angle should be less than 18 degrees with the knee in extension and less than 8 degrees with the knee in 90 degrees of flexion. A typical Q angle is 12 degrees for men and 17 degrees for women.[5]

Treatment[edit]
The treatment of genu valgum in children depends on the underlying cause. Developmental also known as idiopathic genu valgum is usually self-limiting and resolves during childhood. Genu valgum secondary to nutritional rickets is typically treated with life style modifications in the form of adequate sun exposure to ensure receiving the daily requirements of vitamin D and nutrition with rich calcium diet. Additionally calcium and vitamin D supplementations may be used. If the deformity does not resolve despite the above conservative treatment and the deformity is severe and causing gait impairment, then surgery can be an option. Typically, guided growth surgery is used to straighten the deformed bone.[10] Genu valgum arising from osteochondrodysplasia[4] usually needs repeated guided growth surgical interventions.[11] Genu valgum secondary to trauma depends on the degree of physeal damage. And usually limb reconstruction procedures are needed, especially if trauma occurs in the early years of life where the anticipated remaining longitudinal bone growth is great.

The treatment of genu valgum in adults depends on the underlying cause and the degree of joint involvement namely arthritis. Bone corrective osteotomies and prosthetic joint replacement may be used depending upon the patient's age and symptomatology in terms of pain and functional impairment. Weight loss and substitution of high-impact for low-impact exercise can help slow progression of the condition. With every step, the patient's weight places a distortion on the knee toward a knocked knee position, and the effect is increased with increased angle or increased weight. Even in the normal knee position, the femurs function at an angle because they connect to the hip girdle at points much further apart than they connect at the knees.

Working with a physical medicine specialist such as a physiatrist, or a physiotherapist may assist a patient learning how to improve outcomes and use the leg muscles properly to support the bone structures. Alternative or complementary treatments may include certain procedures from Iyengar Yoga or the Feldenkrais Method.

Anterior pelvic tilt, it runs rampant in both Xaalimo's and Farax's.

Caused by weak glutes, tight erector spinae/hip flexors and the muscles in the abdominal being weak, it's an easy fix.

Glorifying it is a form of sickness.

Not sure but who cares, Blacks are the most weakest on earth who get bullied by Asians, Whites and Arabs without a fight. They are the most conquered race on earth. I wont lose sleep over such a weak people hating a Somali.

Well Some Somali clans can trace their lineage from Homo Erectus......They have an erect forced booty. For Landeer and Nasaab Somali clans, they are Homo Sapiens. They eat Pie hence a noble big booty anyway
