Somaliland was independent state before joining the union with Somalia to form Somali Republic it was at this pretext that Somaliland was declared indpebdent from the rest of somalia and restoring its sovereignty it let go in July 1st 1960
Somalis were separate for thousands of years and Gulf countries formed a cooperation council where they work together in economics and defense why not Somali nations be like that??
Whats the point of Somaliland uniting with a wartorn failed state named Somalia again? What would Somaliland benefit from it apart from piracy and terrorism.

You don't know the history buddy when SNM was fighting the regime it wasn't fighting for separation the issue came in Burco conference in 1991 after the chaos in Xamar with Cali Mahdi unilateral action of forming a govt without consulting SNM and other opposition groups who agreed to come to together in Xamar to establish a transitional govt.
Somalis were not separate for thousands of years. Otherwise we would be completely different ethnicities and we’d have completely separate genetics. Their is no such thing as “Somali” nations. Somali is an ethnic group/country and being Arab is a culture, ethnic group and identity.

All Somalia needs is to fix its government and its leadership and all the investments will flood in. Trust me, if Somalia can do that then Somaliland will want to reunite

Thats the history of somaliland somalia relations. Somaliland doesn't only wish independence from somalia because of the genocide they fear getting usurped by the south again. Somalia has a population that's more than twice that of somaliland. So even if the new union is a democratic one it will still be dominated from xamar.
Plus that argument of 'somalis are one people so we should be one nation is flawed' the most somalis were ever united was under the adal and ajuuran sultanetes.
The world is filed with etnic groups spread across boundaries. Both Germany and Austria is inhabited by Germans. Same for north and south Korea. If we look closer all the gulf countries(Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE etc) are cousins.

do you know the second commander of SNM was samaroon Gadabursi??Dilla incident happened when faqash forces were seen retreating to Dilla town with heavy weapons and a faction of SNM chased them and fighting broke out and when the news reached to SNM leaders a ceasefire was called and the elders of samaroon met with isaaq elders to end the hostilities between pro faqash forces in Awdal and SNM forces.
