I think the difference is that one group’s worth is tied to factors that don’t have an expiration date (sorry if this sounds harsh), so a conservative society will continue to hope for a change to them becoming ‘useful’. A Diamond’s value would decline if you introduced corrosive elements to its nature, and expired milk could be salvaged by turning it into useful things like Yoghurt and Cheese, so in this scenario society sees women as Diamonds that need to make sure they have no contact with corrosive elements that could permanently take away their shine and the men would be the milk, that could be useful or expire, and still be considered handy for other things in the long run.

Well, that’s horrific but quite an extreme example of an outlier group, and not really representative of general society or their POV. I however did mention that ‘usefulness’ was a value indicator for both genders, just that in the case of one group the other factors could override that quality.

A daughter with an Only Fans account for example earning millions could buy her conservative family a new house in their homeland and the parents could still reject that gesture. The same daughter could park her brand new Range Rover in front of her parents’ house with the intention of taking her sick dad to his weekly medical check ups and still be rejected in favour of an Uber.

So even in the case of being ‘useful’ there are strings attached. Still, abandoning your wife at the most difficult time of her life is one of most F’up things you could do.
