Hmm, tbh you may be on to something. Brown and dark skin Somalis have that regal look wallahi. Light skin Somalis are usually chubby faced. Hence why many models are of the darker hue in our community.

I have a lot of very light skinned Somalis in my family with that "regal" look. That look has nothing to do with skin tone.

That chubby face is a trait within Somalis however, it does not discriminate.

Skin tone really has no preference among Somalis.I have seen people with remarkable resemblance to each other, of different tones. That is my observation anyway.

I think light skin is subconsciously associated with health and vibrancy

even when somalis compliment dark skin, its always the smooth reddish undertoned dark. The one the don't like is the "ashy" skin. I think you guys know what I mean lol

Whenever I met a Somali guy who talks/praises my skin for being light, I would be disgusted and they would always be dark/maariin!

If I married a dark skinned/maariin man my daughter would probably resemble him so would I want her to have a colourist father? Nope.

Your dark skinned genes will carry on and most likely dominate your gene pool so unless you marry a White woman, your children will look like you.

That's also why I am disgusted by non-Somali African men who love Somali women, they clearly don't like their own phenotype but again, their children always resemble them and not the Somali mother!

Skin is beautiful in all shades but you know what's not attractive: Self-hate disguised as a "preference".

Who taught you to hate your own skin colour? Most likely your father/mother have the same skin colour as you so what's the issue?
