Today was meant to be the big day for constitutional change. July 20. The time for opening the constitution was scheduled today which was the original thing that set off the war. Seems like it won’t be happening but still time left in the day to be surprised.

Could see it delayed to Saturday too

Parliament closed after disagreement over considering a motion on moving away from Garowe as the capital

Seems like Deni will try everything to change the constitution

Jimcaale boasted of having 5 months of wages for his troops. Assuming they have similar to basic infantry SNA of $200 per month. That’s $400,000+ if he has at least 400 troops. He also said that money was not paid for PL taxes and that is a loan from PL. Implying that ‘we’re going to get it back’.

Former PL official accuses ina Faroole getting $350,000 from Habar Awal businesses they’ve got links with.

Aaran Jaan refused to accept the suggestions of Islaan Bashiir and Islaan Ciise who proposed electing the MPs in 1m1v and presidential election to be held on 08/01, but they don't want any form of 1m1v and want the old system, so Deni is going forward with the constitutional changes.

Interesting probably explains this last night

Deni has brought in a lot of troops and is building defences

The 2 isimo are still negotiating with them, let's see if they throw the towel. And Deni will not acquiesce to AJ's demands, let's see if they order Jimcaale to attack Garowe again.

after a few days of talks about compromise and no change of constitution, seems we’re back to square one. Deni tried to convince Karaash to support him

The parliament is about to close for the rest of the year so it’s now or never

54 out of 66 is 82%. Deni has been given full support for his proposes amendments to the constitution.
  1. President elected by popular vote
  2. VP elected by popular vote
  3. parliament elected by popular vote (hopefully one single district for all of Puntland)
Aaranjaan futada ayaa laga w*asaya

Supposedly 2 million he spent. 30k to each MP.

But good look politically. Regardless AaranJaan shouldn’t panic, Deni hasn’t got enough time for direct elections, he hasn’t even completed local elections in Nugaal. He’s likely to want an extension and that’s when they’ll have their best opportunity.

Fighting right now would be a disaster for them and they’d lose any support. Just stall the Garowe elections till time’s up. This round however goes to Deni
