Let people claim what they want: Maya Jama/Chunkz/Mo Farah

It's different with ajnabis. Somalis are infamous for tribal conflicts. It's a bad look when the younger generation are continuing on that legacy. If its going to be discussed it should be in private.

Ajnabis shouldn't become familiar with which Somali belong to which qabil.

Good point, discussing our qabiils in front of ajnabi can be a sensitive topic.

Inshallah Somalis will get opportunities to discuss qabiil vs qabyaalad

I want Somalis to get to a healthy stage where you can mention your qabiil in passing and celebrate each other's differences and cultures.
Go to the South and do Shirib, play Buranbur in Bari, Jaandheere, Dhaanto etc.

Our qabiil is our address, not a dirty secret. Viva all Somalis.
Some people would like to associate someone that belongs to a clan to what some people who happen to share the same clan has either done or advocate for, the generalization of qabils needs to also end

That should be the next big SomaliSpot discussion topic.

Qabiil vs Qabyaalad

We really need to organise this and bring together all the minds on Somalispot and have a healthy, open discussion to hash out the major sensitivities surrounding this.

Many have tried it on here but failed as it ended up becoming a typical "muh qabil is better then yours " rhetoric. :mjlol:

Yes other clans all work together to bring the period of peace and prosperity in 1960 through 1969.
Inshallah we will return to that type of government again. I was just highlighting hawiye achievements.
I'm the farthest thing from a qabilist.
Love my Hawiye brothers, even if we turned on eachother during the civil war☺️ First president was Hawiye and they were also one the founding fathers of Somali Youth League✊🏾

Yeah, who cares if they share their clan affiliation on social media. You can't seem to bifurcate qabil from qabilism. Also, we used to rule ourselves based on qabil before colonials showed up. :duck: FYI I am Samaroon yet I don't care. Most people who claim Lander are Issaq. If you're Gadabuursi/Samaroon aka G-unit then you'll claim the Gadabuursi inhabited areas in Awdal, Ethiopia and Djibouti to a lesser extent. That's how we know. Plus they are mostly reer magaal and don't speak on clan much unless it's between clan members but that's our subculture.
Waan gartay you must have missunderstod me gacliso, i dont care waxaad rabtid sheego, im just telling you how it is, most somalis avoid speaking of clan let alone boasting of their clan with other Somalis. Its perceived feminine boasting of your clan were im from and its mostly done by women during buraanbur.

Most people I've met think that asking someones qabil is qabiliste behaviour. I guess people were told discussing it is ceeb. :liberaltears:
