Some of the guys investing visit Buq, Hobyo with the company that will be building this and have been running the Hobyo fishing port for the past few years.

You can see the explanation in the video why they chose this site with the material to build it being right next to the port’s construction site making it the cost to build a lot cheaper. Also how the deep sea and depth are perfect in this site

Suldaanka Saleebaan confirms agreement. This is a big deal as previously we couldn’t get agreement between Sacad and Saleebaan as both wanted it in their side of Hobyo. But after the Turkish and Holland engineers surveyed the most suitable area was in North Hobyo, they have now agreed this is the place to build it in.

Congrats to QQ. This is the biggest achievement a HG politician has made in many decades

Good news

Good for central Somalia and FGS tbh. No offence to PL, but 90% of their leverage is their revenue from Bosaso which is used all the way south to Hirshabelle.

Spreading out port revenue and reducing the imbalance will improve FGS leverage as Galmudug, client FGS state (and likely always will be as our GM politicians are all from Xamar), will be the port for central Somalia and cut business for PL from anything south of Galkayo.

Just a fact, not meant to be FKD.

Also this will give other states and clans hope as HG is probably the most disunited clan as Cayr Saleebaan Sacad all act as distinct clans with borders. So if we can unite for this, others can too.

Hobyo will 100% be built soon, it seems that President QQ is very serious on leaving a legacy behind in his last year in office by creating this Port that will make Galmudug finally a regional player and financially independent from Mogadishu.

With a Port we can dictate geopolitics and also develop Galmudugs economy and army in a faster rate.

The FGS will get financing from the World Bank or AFDB to build a road linking a new Indian Ocean port to the main road and to Ethiopia. The WB and AFDB will not fund two 300-400 km roads from two ports that are just 100 miles apart. Each of these roads can be expected to cost $350-400 million.

Already the FGS has pleged that it will seek financing from concessional lenders for Garacad port’s road link to Galdogob.

The WB and AFDB will not fund a project which will directly harm the roi of another project they’ve financed.

Hobyo Port will 100% be built, remember Galmudug being 1.5 region and still is a federal state, shows that with HGs everything is possible.

The only obstacle of Hobyo port was the competition between Bah Qumis siblings Sacad and Salebaan, but now they have a proper agreement and an understanding to build Hobyo port.

And also on another note, ever since Afbarwaaqo airport has been built, Sacad and Sheikhal are jointly creating a new deegan settlement North of Dhinowda to move from the Bacaad, Galmudug has send soldiers, arms and vehicle to Dhinowda ever since it was made a district by Galmudug.

they've been doing photo op's for this port the past 10 years, will it actually ever be built, any timeline? Also for it to be worth it the port has to be bigger than garcad/bossaso. Any idea how big it's supposed to be? Also a port is serious money, if FGS gets a loan they gotta pay a certain percentage of the port.

We are hosting safely Somalia's President in our capital for almost 3 months now without any Alshabaab or AMISOM presence and you are talking about holding a Port safe?
