even as a nurse you don't have a choice unless you do agency work even then its difficult to find only female patients you intevitebly have to work with opposite gender

Nah wouldn’t fly with me. There’s a difference between casual friends/coworkers and close friends though. But close friends as in: you go to each other’s place, go out to eat/hang out one on one frequently, talking on the phone and opening up to each other emotionally? No. A lot of close male/female friendships tend to resemble relationships without the romance part and all it takes is one moment of weakness and that line is crossed (which happens more often than you would think). There’s a reason those types of friendships are haram

friend is already too personal and intimate, it means you like them, and talk to them and are cordial with them.
A acquaintance is neutral, no feelings towards, them, they are just a person who you interact with
so if you have male friends, then it already implies you have a relationship with them of some sorts, you talk or chat with each other and like each other(in the friendly way)
