The ship has been docked with the equipment in Bosaso for several days now because of the rain. Once it clears up, it will be escorted by security personnel to Garacad. 150 soldiers have already departed Gaalkacyo for Bosaso. The dynamite that we have been waiting for (to break rocks) is in there among other things.

He says that the port is scheduled to be complete by January 2021 if they work 40 hours per week.

Phase 1 is now complete. Phase 1 included things like leveling the ground and preparing it for future construction. Now we are in Phase 2 which is the construction phase. This latest shipment of equipment is expected to be the last one.

Two of the most expensive parts in building a port are digging into the ocean floor and bringing rocks from long distances. None of this will be necessary in Garacad. It's naturally deep so no underwater digging is necessary. And there's a mountain 2 km away that will be used as a source of rocks.

Garacad is expected to be able to handle the large containers that Bosaso isn't equipped for. Currently, only Berbera, Mogadishu, and Kismayo are able to handle large containers since their ports were completed by the west during the kacaan. Bosaso port was only a third finished when the country collapsed.

Will the port be up to modern standards apart from scale?

All I see is equipment for a portable concrete batching plant. Are you sure this is specifically intended for a port? How do I know this isn't going to be used for a concrete plant in say, Gaalkacyo?

I don't see any crushing and screening equipment that's needed to produce quarried products. I don't see any loaders, tippers, etc.

I want to see this happen just as much as anybody else but I am pretty sure I am being lied to at the moment.

I’m not really sure if you are trolling (I think you are tbh) but you literally can’t even see what’s inside the dozens of trucks and there a many videos of the construction literally taking place at the port and my family is in Garacad and I get weekly updates about what’s going on.

But you made a similar post in another thread which is why I know you are trolling and likely don’t want Garacad to happen. Focus on Hobyo, Garacad will continue to move forward.

That looks like road construction equipment to me. An excavator, a grader, a few tandem tipper trucks, and a smooth drum roller. All that's missing is a water cart (there are many in Somalia) and, a paver, and probably a mobile asphalt plant.

Garacad is defo going to be THE place to be in all of Somalia. In Sha Allah, I plan to move to Puntland in the next 10-15 years, and build a boat manufacturing company. I was originally wanting to settle in my family's ancestral homeland of North coast Bari, but then I realised, my family is from the whole Northeastern of the country, I am truly a landheer. So Garacad here I come.

One thing that I find incredibly about this port, is that it's been funded by the people of Puntland. That is the key thing here. It's a fact that no where else in Somalia is a key infrastructure being built solely from the pockets of the locals. This is another thing we can definitely add, as further proof of the superiority of the people of the Northeast over the rest of the country.

A massive salute to Reer Mudug. For years, and years, they had to deal with being labelled as the most insecure and unstable region of Puntland. A reputation that hindered the development of the region, greatly. Also, being plagued by constant attacks from the dark lands of Mordor, which again made things worse for the region. Alhamdulillah, through hard work and perseverance, and patience with all these difficulties: its paid off. It's because of this, I say, Reer Mudug are the greatest Puntlanders.

I'm gonna look past your emotional response. In the future why don't you share my post so we can discuss it instead coming to absurd conclusions on your own.

Aside from that it looks like I was wrong. I found a video with some plant (trucks, diggers, dozers). They probably haven't started with the site cut just yet since we can't see any stockpiles, but it looks like the project is materialising. This was from November mind you.

yup that's why regions as far as hiiraan and soon SWS use Bosaso port, unlike berbera the tax is low. Garacad port will hopefully be the same, our officials are already in Ethiopia discussing how both parties will work on the border region and increase trade, road network and use the garacad port.

This is what we could have done if the country wasn't closed socialist dictatorship.

Look at our location we should have invested in ports long time ago as wes have the first/second largest coastline in Africa.

The 7 shape Puntland are pioneers and rest will follow.

We need several big ports and to think the people of this country are 'poor' when they have so much in resources and are located in a strategic place.
