It's so weird wllhi, me and my cousins do not belong to the same clan but we are related by blood. There are no differences between the clans.
This just goes to show that no matter how much Somalis have in common (language, religion, race, culture), they still would find something to divide themselves amongst.
I wont really care about someone's clan but if I notice that her family is really into it to the point where they slander others then i'm done.

I’ve never asked I rlly don’t care about qabil. But I have noticed that a lot of people will ask which region/city you come from as a roundabout way to figure out your qabil lol. Once I say my father’s side is from a city 1 hr from Hargeisa they know immediately what qabil I’m from

Honestly I want to be in a comfortable marriage which means I can tell my future beautiful kids how wonderful Siyad Barre was during his presidency do you think a Isaaq girl is going to accept that ? no ... or when I am out of the house she will tell the kids all the horrors of the Faqash Regime. I want my parents to sit saturday evening in my living room and tell their grandkids those stories about how they were chased all the way to Mombasa Kenya by Hawiye mobs in 1991 you think they can do that with a Hawiye girl running around in the house ?

Why tell your kids such stories anyways. You shouldn’t fill your children’s head with such nonsense. I’m glad my parents looked down on talking about tribes. In front of the kids at least.

Clan affiliation isn't a choice tho that's all politics. The individuals all have there own views. I as an isaaq wouldn't want to marry an isaaq who is happy with what the somaliland government is doing in Las canood. I don't see why i would rule out all isaaqs when they are all there own individuals. You should just follow it up with asking them what there politically beliefs are because no group of somalis are a monolith.
