Do you ask the person's qabiil when you are getting to know someone romantically?

lol why would i ask which inbred clan she is apart of? As long as her family has no weird issues about qabil then idc. However i do want to go back to Somaliland when i am older not any other region of the country. 💁🏾

Do people usually prefer person from same region? What if one is northerner and the other person is southerner? Myself I would avoid isaaq but others are good lol
People prefer their own, weddings within same qabiil are usually merrier but in diaspora most are happy if their kids bring a Somali home and some will be content if they marry another muslim. Desperate times I guess....

If there from Europe, they usually ask but in a slick way like “where in Somalia are you from?” There more in tune with that stuff. Expecially Isaaqs.

If there from the states, for the most part, they don’t ask or care. There too Americanized to give a shit.

I never asked a girl raised in the west anything to do with her lineage that’s some hillbilly shit. Even the new generation in cities in Somalia ( speaking for the south) see that shit as weak game

This things actually do matter, how can someone who just lost loved ones in Sool marry someone who thinks it was justified ? guys let us not live in a dream world. Also if you are Hawiye dont marry into those Darod homes where they always reminds you of what people did to them in 1991 its very toxic.

a somali that I was working with asked me about my qabiil. I said I was sacad. To my surprise, he immediately hugged me and exclaimed that he is also Sacad. I couldn't help but notice that he was wearing a Somaliland bracelet, cuz there is no way a habargidir is from somaliland. I was like I thought u were isaaq didnt knew u were habargidir and he was like who said I was habargidir. I started figuring out what was going on, so I told him that u meant to say that ur sacad muse right, in which he replied yes. Usually when someone says sacad they usually are talking about sacad saciid not sacad muse

can't blame them cuz their children will take after their father's qabiil :gaasdrink:
Naa most don't care about qabil but some people's families do and we all know how weird inter qabil politics can be. Some people's families would be against marrying from certain qabils for xyz reasons. So they ask to get the dealbreaker qabils out of the way

Qabiil is important question if it is for marriage. Some Qabiils are more romantic than others(BS). There's also politics and neighboring rivalry clans. I always look for distant Qabiils whom we don't know each other, I don't want to have a hostile environment in my living space when one of my Qabiil relatives kills a relative of the Mrs. By the way I have witnessed one too many times. It's ugly.

Lmfao. I actually know a guy who was asked his qabiil by a woman's dad. The dad said something like it's good you're not "midgan" or a clan like that. Left a bad taste in his mouth. I told him don't marry into a family like that... you can do alot better. Proud of him.

Yes, not because of qabyaalad but to know their family. It’s a part of us. It’s a way to trace your family tree. There’s no need to hide it unless someone is hiding their family from you. I won’t take someone serious if when talking about marriage, they don’t want to tell me their qabiil.
