Dams, Water and Drainage Infrastructure Thread

If that much water is stored and utilized, you could literally produce more food than South Somalia.

Nope.

This dam can sustain a 10 hectare farm (about 25 acres) for 3 months according to wassim whilst there are probably hundreds of hectares of farm in the jubba/shabelle basin.

Still an excellent project that can sustain water shortages during the dry season and future droughts.

They should build a network of these dams and better yet, build covered resovoirs which will cost a lot more due to extra materials and labour required but will mitigate water lost via evaporation.

I am talking about this tweet:

If all of that water is captured in the rainy season, that would provide at least 5 million people water each day and 500,000 ha of irrigated land, if not much more.

Ohhh... Sorry man

If that's the case i don't know if we could overtake the south in terms of production but we must still try to capture as much runoff water as we can.

They're building one just south of Ceerigaabo and another one near Laascaanood. It seems that we've finally woken up :rejoice:

The people finally woke up too. This is a slow & steady step from qabiil owned lands to Government owned land. It's a major step towards economic development in SL.
