You can have sympathy for a grieving family and still admit they were careless. No 2 year old should be left alone much less a non-verbal autistic 2 year old near a body of water.

But m this is like the 6th case I’ve heard of a Somali autistic child wandering off and drowning in the past 4 years. Preventative measures are desperately needed.

she was 2 and a high acting autist. How would you teach her how to swim? Do you expect every parent to teach their child how to swim the moment they were born?

Putting this father in jail will only harm his kids more. You can’t classify this as neglect if he was only away for 1 or 2 minutes with his OTHER child.

As for your last statement, I don’t think that would work here. Are you seriously saying that they should be locked up because they didn’t teach their 2 year old to swim?
