Yep, the madows got the worst arse whopping from cadaans. They were around in an era in which they’d be chased down the street by cadaans with knives, so I reckon treating Somalis like this was probably their way of feeling powerful.I look at that boy and sympathise deeply with him, because I was him in many ways. AUN.
That was my era, I grew up constantly being in fist fights, insult contests one after the other. The black kids hated me, the Asians percieved me as being too alien. There weren't that many Somalis in my area.
Interestingly the best mentors I ever had in life have always been black men. My martial arts teacher and many others who gave me golden advice about life. That is why I don't judge people based on superficial things like race and colour.
Just remember hurt people hurt people. If you are hurt, find the healing you need and break the cycle of pain.
Also, I think Somalis being unapologetically themselves gave some an inferiority complex. Caribbeans had white sounding names and grandparents who’ve been in the UK since the 40s-50s with cockney accents and they were still treated horrendously and then here comes the Somalis who can’t speak proper English, their own unique culture and different religion. And then add in the horrible white racists who are willing to make your life hell and would even try to terrorize Somali hooyos and kids.
In saying that, some of the best people I’ve met have been madows. Once you get older, you realize that humans are a mixed bag.
