Never mind everyone had small shields in the region but why?
What was the advantage? Mobility?
What was the advantage? Mobility?
Not all somali had small shields. It was only used for spearmen to my knowledge. Perhaps it allowed you to have more agility and block a spear better? But you'd have to be really skilled to use a small shield like that.Its kinda weird why somali had such small shields. Must be our ego. Our neighbours bad much bigger shields

because they have the same language, culture, and genetic makeup. why wouldn't they feel closer to them?Itโs a sign of weak iman. How can you feel closer to a non Muslim than a Muslim especially when they arenโt even your close family?
How can you feel close to a people whoโs women you canโt marry and whose food you canโt eat? Insanity
Somalis should not follow these weak faithed Muslims. A amxaar Muslim is closer to me than a Somali gaal
We need to revive this. Somali sword crafting is also something that we should bring back, there's some brutal yet majestic in the design of these swords.Sword and spear fighting should be made into proper sports in somalia.
Those are bilao(?) used by the Darwish I believe. Beautiful swords I want a few of those including the dagger versions.We need to revive this. Somali sword crafting is also something that we should bring back, there's some brutal yet majestic in the design of these swords.
Furthermore I agree we should hold hegemony over the horn but not before first ensuring there's no strife among us. Somalinimo should first become paramount among us before we begin the process of selling our unique culture.
With stability and the rise of a more educated population I think we could see the dawn of new era. But we must take steps to reach that goal.

Just look at the seerah of the prophet. Who did he feel close to? Was it quraysh kaafirs or was it Bilal r.a the habeshi? Was it his uncle or was itโs Salmaan Al faaris r.a? Was it Umm Jamil, his uncles wife, or was it Umm Ubays r.a the Roman ?because they have the same language, culture, and genetic makeup. why wouldn't they feel closer to them?
I bet even an Amhara muslim would feel closer to a Amhara christian than to a somali
I NEED
We have such a rich martial culture, yet we ignore it. Look at these pieces of art.such a gorgeous display

What is absurd to me is random ajanabis holding on to possible historical artefacts and Somali โmuseums โ only display a few hand woven baskets and aqal as somali history.

We have a long road ahead. Best we can do is install these values of Somalinimo into our children and set them up to begin a somali renaissance. I want to see a revival of our poetry, we were once the nation of poets. We should have somali poets dominating the scene, spreading our classics but also creating new works.Those are bilao(?) used by the Darwish I believe. Beautiful swords I want a few of those including the dagger versions.
I used to have one of those short swords used by afar but also us Ciise but I had to leave it behind after I finished summer.
I agree. Somali need to end all fractionalism within before we expand outside. Then bringing a Renaissance in Somali culture and Society. Make ourselves a center of culture and Islam. Document and compile everything we have so far into books and publish them. The fact I can't go onto amazon and find a book on arawello or the story of Samaale iyo Sab is sad. Then we must expand Both borders and cultural sphere. Somaliweyn is the obvious goal of uniting the ethnic group. But as the Arabs brought in all other semites into their fold we can achieve the same in our area.
look at how they treat sudanis that fluently speak their languageAna Arab people, you can embarrass yourself on Somalispot lkn for the love of God don't embarrass your self in real life.
It's fucking pathetic.
Where did OP say they "love" arabs? all they said is that they feel closer to any muslim than a non-muslim east african. This is the pinnacle of islam that every muslim should be aiming towards. An islam that transcends race, culture, etc. If you can't bring yourself to do this (i can't either), then just go on with your life. no need to cry "ana carab"
I did not make this thread to give an excuse for people to slander Arabs. I made this thread to tell you this idolising is not reciprocal. Love yourself and be neutral towards the arabs just like you would with any other people.
This thread is mainly targeted at
@Cush
@Al Adnani
@Hamzza
You can make your theories about how somalis are Arabs but at the end of the day when we talk about reality we need to recognise that Arabs view non-muslim Arabs to be closer to them than muslim non-Arabs.
No one is saying you cant like arabs but recognise reality and donโt embarrass yourself.
My Arabic is better than my Somali. My mother is basically a fullblown Yemeni (culturally) as she wasnt raised by the Somali side of her family@Al Adnani please tell me you can at least speak Arabic![]()
