Does Somalis even have any history with those Arabized people? were very different too them tbh. we share alot in common with gulf not soo much with levantines and north africans. One thing you gotta realise is Somalis might be the only 100% muslim nations, alot other muslim groups has big numbers of gaalo/ shias in them so they are already ”cool” with them and grew up with them. They see themself as one.

Somalis have history with the gulf by virtue of proximity but the north africans and Levantines no. Even our history with the gulf isn't enough to claim us to be one. In the end of the day, history, language, blood and culture can all be seen in the others in the horn. What I don't like about somali is they desperatly try forcing themselves into these groups they aren't fully a part of. Gives the impression of identity crisis and such. We are Somali first and Horn/Cushite next. Even though it isn't an extra-ethnic identity like arabs, the horn is more of a civilisation of different nations of people much like Europe.

Many west africans got very similar dynamic.

However if you asked Saudis or qataris it would be a very different answer, in my own opinion the people who generally believe most in the ”ummah” tend to be Somalis, South asians and the gulf.

I’m sure if you asked a Qatari or Algerian if they feel closer to non Arab Muslims than their murtads, they’d say yes. Asking a Palestinian if they feel closer to their Christian aunt and cousin over people from another region is ridiculous.

I don't disagree with that, but that still doesn't mean the clan system was imported from Arabia. Nearly all nations that practiced pastoralism had clans.
