Censuses based on self-identity have high error rates. Many of those Bantus are probably going to hide under the Rahanweyn clan, possibly some claiming Hawiye as well. Somalia should do a census based on genetics. Link everyone's government id with their genome data.

Lol, sure. And who's going to pay for it? I think a nationwide genomic study would take ages, be incredibly expensive and would reveal a few secrets that many of the major clans would rather not have revealed.

You only need to do it once. Then you have a register of all the Bantus & Benadiris / Others. Their descendants will be known through the civil registry.
