i dont think its featurism, horn of african and nilotic women have the tall slender look the fashion industry desires. are they gonna tell me alek wok is an example of "featurism" :comeon:
A lot of people tend to throw that term around, but is it really “featurism” if that’s what the modelling industry is looking for? Are they not allowed to want that look? Also what the man in the video is saying is that they shouldn’t be representing black women as the average black woman doesn’t look like that.

Ye bcs we are more similar to Caucasian features
I kinda agree but he’s making the point that it’s only one way, meaning a black man or dark skinned person with those features are not promoted in the media the same way.

It is an interesting dialogue. There is a positive view of east african women and there is a push to make them become the normal beauty standards for black women. When those feature or looks are not representative of how black women look.

There are insidous intentions in regards to this. He is smart for bringing it up.

These people aren't only upset at horner women either. I've seen videos where they are upset that the model industry pays more attention to West African women with strong bantu features. They also don't like the fact that the industry doesn't pick the regular dark skinned AA woman. So it's not like our 'caucasion' features are the problem for them, it's more like being replaced by other black people.

Beauty is subjective at an extent. But your preference gets shaped by envoriment, and media so yes its a bad thing that one race or group of people are favored in the model industry. Just a couple of decades ago, a big ass was considered ugly and nasty but now its prefered.
AAs/West Africans are the face of blackness and Africa. They are more represented than us in the media but now want what little representation we have?

I uplift their features but I’m not going to pretend that I do not prefer my own. I like seeing girls like Halima Aden succeed. I understand where you’re coming from but West Africans can’t have everything. Their looks aren’t superior to ours or more deserving of representation.

I agree, a lot AA women now don’t consider light skin women or women of a lighter brown shade “black enough” like a Beyonce even though they might be AA through and through. It will be interesting to see how things go the more Horner women go into modelling and are labelled as “black women” they will most likely start to turn on you guys as well.

what’s the opinion of the women on here, He notices the difference of media promotion between men and women don’t agree with him on everything though, but makes good points.

would be problematic if only Horner women are representing black women especially in USA, I think it would eventually noticed on a larger scale In my opinion.

P.S he does believe that horners are mixed because of the previous DNA test videos on YouTube.

Black people who have bantu features are the majority by far.

I agree 100% but like you said they are the majority and it’s about a minority representing the majority I’m pretty sure you know the mindset of AA women how do you think they will take it? Especially the more Horner women get into modelling and this becomes the norm.

AA women can’t stand that a few East African women made it into the modeling industry? They want to be in the spotlight and be the center of attention 24/7. If that triggers these people then that shows you the level of cuqdad and low self esteem they have.

I love AAs and West African women, but if my time on Lipstickalley and Twitter has taught me anything, they do not like horn African girls. There is something about us that makes them uneasy. But I will still support my own over them. They can hate on us all they want :zhqjlmx:

Most probably have never encountered Somalis, maybe habeshas but let’s be real they are definitely less problematic then Somalis so why the issue with you?

Eurocentric beauty ideals is still heavely present when it comes to facial features, skin color ideals is kinda dying down it feels like. So no wonder East african women are getting picked, Dark skin plus slim white like features.
Either way we need everyone represented.

Other whites don't rumble on the Russians taking over modelling . These buthurt AA have some self problems, they need to calm down, somalis make up a little tiny percent but some get globally famous. If AA think they are ugly, that doesn't mean they need to be jealous and deny the happiness of others. Black people in general don't support each other. It's better if Somalis dissociate from the people that dislikes them.

Tbh, the model scene and the 'representation' bs is the last thing on my mind.

The people behind the scenes clearly have some sort of agenda pushing this black hijabi narrative to become mainstream.

If madows from the US don't like it, I suggest they push forward their own women than to hype up other ethnicities. Just my two cents.

On magazine and catwalks. You rarely ever see black women much. They have a very small market and this not in their interest.

If Somali women or other Horners in general were not having the little success they are having right now. Do you think they make a video about why we aren't being represented?

Who's being represented more today? Asians. Why? Because they're buying all the goods

I see what you're saying but they're taking their issues up with the wrong group. We only have a couple of people who represent us, they should direct their attention to cadaans who dominate the industry. If it was such a big problem for them, they should create their own space and magazines with endless AA women instead :zhqjlmx:
