That clearly isn’t true for a lot of people on here. They hunt for couples on social media and slap it with the same rehashed narrative. It’s actually a bit disturbing.
You can’t compare Indians and Pakis as selective immigrants who’re adaptive to a pool of mostly refugee Somalis, many of whom grew up in poor, disadvantaged ghettos in the diaspora. We also don’t put value on work and educational attainment like they do. So there’s not much to think about. Somalis 2 gens from now will be a grab bag.

Anyway, a grab bag:
It’s a bag of an assortment of different items with unknown contents: good and bad. I mean, you can’t expect the same outcomes as a selective group of immigrants who actually adapt, work and kill themselves over their grades to work towards the so-called American dream, to refugees with broken families who’re dealing from the fallout from strife, and have mostly uneducated parents, and are settled in mostly disadvantaged areas, who view work as beneath them. Some will overcome that, some won’t. Some will be attracted to base lifestyles, some won’t. Literally the non-piece of the equation is their non-Somali relationships, but that’s what the strobe light focuses on here, like they’re possibly sexually frustrated posters?

Lool interesting. Its funny I have similar views of you. In the almost 4 short months I have posted here. I have noticed a difference in you. I do agree the forum is negative. I have also thought about how it effects my outlook on things.
But the negativity has got to you as well. You went from constantly offering another perspective of things in a calm manner to becoming more negative, genaralising and at times mocking. Like saying maybe they are sexually frustrated. Its much easier to analyse others than yourself.
From my perspective I dont like what this forum has turned me into me. I registered because I worked long hours infront a computer and had too much time on my hands. In a month time I will start my new job and wont post. One more thing just look how you choose to describe Somalis in your post. You lumped up every negative stereotype of somalis and said this is us in nutshell. Thats why I say you dont realize how similar you are to the people you keep calling negative and judgemental.

The forum did have an effect on me, but it wasn’t one you were here to observe. It’s more something I noticed in myself that happened very early on. I remember being scandalized by practically every thread on here.
As for you, or anyone on here tbh, I think people are much better off away from website than on it. You’d think a shift in usership would correct it, or bring something different to the table, but so far people come and go and the same attitudes and topics persist. Good luck on your new job!
Well, a stereotype is a generalization. It doesn’t mean everyone is like that, it means it’s a persistent trait of too many of us. We can’t put our head in the sand. I don’t know why you see as me as being negative, as if I’m responsible for these traits. It is what it is, you either accept it, or fight it.
Thanks Vix. I only posted in 2 forums before this one. Arsenal forum and sherdog(mma) forum. It was all laughter and info sharing. Tbh this forum does have some interesting people and it can be interesting to speak to somalis across the world with different views.
I agree about some of the negative traits. But we are the first generation of somalis who grew up in Europe. We came from war torn country and many somali parents were uneducated. Its bit unfair to compare us to established communities who has been here in the west. Its easy to focus only on the bad. I mean positive news isnt exactly selling.
And no offence. You are negative. Not in your face negative. But more of when I read your post and how you articulate certain things. Most of the time you tell it from a negative perspective. Having said that you are an interesting person
