"Venezuela has breadlines, socialism is a failure"

People have become like caged zoo animals. Without their running water, stocked supermarket shelves, electricity and gas all of this collapses within months.

Or it can be used as a purge by those who run the system easily.

What happened in Venezuela has nothing to do with their socialist policies. Their economy started failing after they stopped importing their oil to neo-zionists in the States.

150 years ago Cuba and Venezuela were slave-owning Spanish colonies/former colonies? Wtf are you on about, imbecile?
Do you know what the Monroe Doctrine is first? It was a declaration that the United States viewed that the Americas are its realm of interest and that it would work to eliminate European imperialism/interference in the region. President Monroe began working on this in the 1820's and declared the Doctrine in 1823 when the US was still a joke. South America also happened to be revolting under Simon Bolivar and kicked out the Spanish and appreciated the words this long term policy.

"Simón Bolívar himself, still in the midst of his last campaign against the Spaniards, Santander in Colombia, Rivadavia in Argentina, Victoria in Mexico—leaders of the emancipation movement everywhere—received Monroe's words with sincerest gratitude".

So no Spain lost most of its South American + Carribean colonies "imbecile" . Cuba was later lost in 1898 with the Spanish-American war after Spain's influence and control of the colony spooked American sugar monopolies operating there. The US helped Cuba become independent too although it was much more than a few words.

Now to bring it full circle this was also directed at preventing the USSR's communism from spreading and threatening the previously unchallenged American hegemony in Latin America. That's why you saw numerous CIA coups, assassinations and even invasions by the United States to purge its immediate sphere of influence of said communism. Which is why Cuba and Venezuela are sanctioned shitholes today - they turned to a hostile European superpower triggering the Monroe Doctrine against them.

Yeah, I know what the Monroe doctrine is. US war with Communism is bigger than that.

Fidel Castro could send Cuban troops and I believe even tanks..... to a faraway place called Ogaden.... to fight someone named Siad Barre......

has anyone thought about how weird this is?

when the US decides to fight against people in caves in Afghanistan.... some people notice "isn't it kind of weird the US is fighting wars with seemingly random countries on the other side of the world?".........

but is it not possibly even more weird that a poor country like Cuba would be fighting Siad Barre?

how many Latin Americans have heard of Siad Barre?

I have a book of interviews with Fidel Castro (with Ignacio Ramonet). I think Siad Barre gets a total of one sentence.

The whole war with Somalia gets a total of two sentences. Mind you, Fidel Castro is talking Mr. Ramonet's ear off for about 650 pages.

"Hemos combatido en Etiopía, a raíz de la guerra agresiva lanzada por Siad Barre contra la revolución en ese país. Jamás nuestros soldados ejecutaron a un prisionero, jamás lo maltrataron y siempre le brindaron asistencia médica."

-Fidel Castro
(Fidel Castro: Biografía a dos voces)

So apparently Fidel Castro could send Cubans (and I believe tanks as well) to fight in some way-off region in East Africa to fight a Somali dictator most Latin Americans have never heard of- but he couldn't feed his people.

"Sorry, people, no food for you. We have to go fight in a region you've never heard of called the Horn of Africa."

"Sorry, people, no food for you. I know you've never heard of this country called Angola but we have to go fight a war there. Viva la revolución."

Read The Double Life of Fidel Castro by his bodyguard if you want to know about him. This man was a BALLER, SHOT CALLER.

I think I wouldn't mind balling like Fidel Castro. I might finally get an Instagram and call it BIG BALLER DADDY DEL SUR.

That guy was living like a movie star. This guy one moment is balling hard on his "pimped-out" yacht and then next he's preaching to people about revolution and lying about how he actually lives.

This man was a BALLER. I cannot overemphasize that.

£100 million bed-hopping hypocrite: He claimed he lived on £20 a month. But Fidel Castro had 20 luxury homes, a private island, an 88ft yacht - and mistresses galore

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...vate-island-88ft-yacht-mistresses-galore.html

so this man is living like that and fighting wars in places Latin Americans can't point to on a map, against people they're never heard of....... yet he can't feed his people

US imperialism made him do it?

just some thoughts on Cuba..... of course Venezuela is a different country but the two are closely linked...... however your best buddy is, I might think you're similar

Keep drinking right-wing think-tank drivel.

P.s. I don't watch Democracy Now! I read history books, moron.

Were those history books published with the Chinese government's approval, like the Global Times article you posted in this thread?

The far left always insult and use vulgar language towards people they disagree with.

My views are all over the place like a normal, rational person should be.
I mean people who sign up wholesale for a political ideology lose out 100%. But to pin myself somewhere I'm prob within this circle

As I said, stop watching fox news and MSNBC or reading Economist/NYT and start reading actual history books.

My Mom has also to been to Cuba, she was shocked to see how they loved life there and their needs were met. Nice to hear but what I was saying is that Monroe Doctrine = No communism (or really no displacing American business) therefore sanctions. That's literally the point of it in our modern context.

"Muh Bootlicker" I'm very well aware that wages have been stagnant for decades while productivity has skyrocketed. Money is getting vacuumed up straight to the top and competition is dead in the corporate sector. The Banking, Arms, Oil, and Tech industries own the Federal Govt its pretty obvious. I'm not promulgating their system it just works better than yours ever has.

Now will a complete restructure and grassroots movement to remove them happen successfully? No it won't bar some extraordinary event, so there's no point punching a brick wall with your bare hands. Work hard get a good paying job and raise a proper family instead of being an edgy revolutionary.

Quick question, How do you reconcile MLM with Islam? I wanna see the mental gymnastics to justify this one. And before you retort "Interest" I'm aware it is fundamentally in contradiction to Islam.
