Siad left the country on 26th of January. In the years/months that followed his departure, hawiyes were fighting each other in Xamar, Daroods fighting each other in Kismayo and Isaaqs annihilated each other in Berbera and Burco. You can't blame him for that.

Do not take any blame off of him, DO NOT DO THAT!

Here's why!

The was the absolute leader of Somalia and he chose to inflame the already gun powder that we've have for centuries, qabiilism. He knew dam well not to play with this ticking time bomb.

Somalia is one of those nations that if ever led by a dictator that the result will be a guaranteed collapse of the statehood. The other country like us is Iraq. In a situation like this the best he could've done was to get the country ready for one man one vote. He had the ultimate chance to drive Somalia towards a culture of elections, proper elections. Heck, they could've even had something like Myanmar where the Military is the final decision maker while a civilian government leads the other things.

Ultimately he chose to drive this ship to the ground, no excuse adeer, no effing excuse. He made the people bahal, he got them ready to implode. When he let go power it was over by that time. Somalia was ripe for catastrophe, complete and utter catastrophe.

Bullshit. Let's look at the clan level of those fighting. I agree that he use to set clans against one and another. But the clans fighting each other after his departure were close allies of each other. HG and Abgaal never beefed during the kacaan, he never used HJ and Habr awal against habar yoonis during the kacaan. Yet they completely destroyed each other. Besides they weren't fighting to set the record straight or for revenge purposes but it was due to bad leadership and greed. Their animal behaviour had nothing to do with what happened before 1991.

Da Siad Barre is an interesting twist to the classic da white manz fault used by Africans.

Everyone else was able to replace a shitty government. If you're unwilling or unable, keep your shitty government.

Youre an idiot for keeping referring to the aftermath!

Xooloyahow listen, if I raise my kids to be thieves and I die as they came into adolescence are you gonna refer to what they have been doing after my demise? What is the background? They were raised as thieves, correct? :ohlord:

If Siad Barre had overthrown the horrifically corrupt civilian government and failed to consolidate power leading to all out civil war for the next three decades, would you blame the previous government for being corrupt and forcing the military's hand, or would you blame Siad Barre?

There will be no normalcy. It's over. We are Balkanized

Tbh if it wasn't for Mohamed Ibrahim Egal Somaliland would have been in the same situation as Somalia.

The way he managed the post regime conflict was nothing short of genius
How come he was painted as not fully a believer in Somaliland before he died though?

How come he was painted as not fully a believer in Somaliland before he died though?
Because he sympathised with Somalia. Deep down he wanted somalia to remain united but the situation in the south was very bad. In an interview with IRIN the same year, SNM leader Abdirahman Awale also said of Egal that "when he says he is for independence, it is for local consumption only. He tells the people here one thing, but in his speeches elsewhere he has clearly declared that Somalia will unite one day. He says we will talk to the southerners when they make their home clean and negotiate with them... He says one thing to the public, and a different thing to the international community."

I think it was just opposition talking points.

Even if he was sympathetic to union, the work he has done to build Somaliland will never be forgotten.

Btw what's with the Trump avatar. I thought you were abdijohnson for a sec :ftw9nwa:
