I think we’re not yet in a position to be taking sides between the West and China when our country is still finding it’s feet.

I’m just a bit wary and cautious of China loan system. I don’t want us to be another country caught by the shady China debt diplomacy.

You are the ones that need something. Not us.
Somaliland keeps having a hostile attitude towards somalia, you harass people who are pro somalia and arrest them over useless issues like waving the blue flag. SL entire foreign policy is based on undermining Somalia in order to get recognition, this strategy doesn't work. If you stopped hating your neighbor maybe somalia and somaliland could start a friendly relationship that will develop into a deal to grant you independence but first we need to have talks, establish borders and future relations.

Exactly. At least Djibouti has other powers that have bases in the country, they have a big US base and of course a French base so if they ever get in trouble with China they have other foreign powers who don't have any interest in seeing Djibouti fall completely into Chinese hands.
Somalia and SL have none of that, same for other african countries

China is scaling back its loans for projects across the world.Plus why in the world would they give 3B to a failed state that has significant uncertainty and doesn't control it's borders.Investors hate risks and in Somalia it is significant.TDLR China won't come for the next few years.
