Top 10 reasons why "Somaliland" shouldn't be a nation

1. Cause of instability
Somaliland has no reason to be independent, they are Somali, they speak Somali and Unionists there can actually stop this chaos currently happening in Somalia. When Somaliland becomes independent, it would further weaken Somalia even more since it's people think that Somalia should cease to exist due to too many somali states breaking away. Not only that , Somaliland has recently invaded a part of Puntland, either somalia declares war on somaliland or uprisings in somalia would continue.

2. It's a dictatorship

Wonder why there are no somali unionists in somaliland?

1. Brainwashing
2. Opressing those sub-clans who want to stay in somalia
3. The Somali unionist flag is banned
4. Their media intends to ridicule somalis
5. They would let in foreigners and treat them like kings, but leave somalis escaping war in the waters freezing

They are no better then North korea, just because they are stable doesn't mean they are democratic

3. They fund terrorists

We all know who funds Al-shabaab [Mainly saudi and Somaliland].
These are my reasons, why should a authoritarian terrorist regime that have serious anti-somali (causing more tension) be independent?

The hypocrisy kkkk, atleast proof read the article before you share it:mjlol::pachah1:

1.Somalia can not reach a lower point than they already are. It is already weak. Somaliland leaving will leave no impact since they do not associate with you anyway. Somaliland have not shared economic nor military power with Somalia for over 30 years.

2.Somalis have 5 regions. Somaliland, Puntland, NFD, Ogaden, Djibouti.

3.The so called Somalia you speak of has only existed since 1960.

5.British Somaliland joined Italian Somaliland in 1960. They left 1991, which means Somaliland has only been with another somali region for 30 years (1960-1991) throughout somali existence.

6. That means somalis have historically always ruled themselves by region.

7. Somalis cannot exist under one state at present moment. That only lasted for 30 years.

8. The argument that Somaliland will ruin somali unity is a desperate attempt to hold on to more ”power” and land.

9. Other somalis do not seem to care about Djibouti being independant. I suppose they are no longer somali to you? but they receive your respect

10. There is no such thing as somali unity. Never existed. If you knew about the history of the somali people, you would know this. Somalis rule eachother by clan, that has been the case for generations yet you people act as if it is a new phenomena.

Djibouti has a growing afar population, I know that if you asked any somali (non-somalilander) , they would want a stable somalia, a strong one and a somalia with all somali ethnic lands in it. Let me compare somalia to germany. Most somali lands were unified under either the Adal or Ajuran sultanate. Most of german land was unified with the HRE. After France [Ethiopia] defeated us, we came into decline and were colonized. Later on, after some more years of defeat, Somalia invades Ethiopia [WW1] and is defeated by ethiopia's allies. Somalia becomes into full decline (basically weimar of africa) and now nations take advantage of it. From raping somali women to stealing ports and polluting our waters. The last thing somali people want are somalis wanting to break away from their nation.

Eritrea ruined any chances for Somaliland becoming recognized. The international community looks at Eritrea with absolute horror.

South Sudan is also a giant clusterfuck.

Nice try. Djibouti was French Somaliland. Afars never had a any power and the truth is most somalis view Djibouti as somali owned land.

The unionists simply do not care about Djibouti like they care about Somaliland.

You are also deflecting the real reason Somalia failed. Not because of outside factors, but inside factors.

Somalis in Djibouti do not want to join Somalia. Somalis in Ogaden do not want to join Somalia. Somalis in Somaliland do not want to join Somalia. Same for NFD and Puntland. Puntland are satisfied ruling themselves.

The same people who are for one somali state are the same people who destroyed it. Ironic.

What territory would be recognised...?

Contested lands included...?

It would be like Israeli war 1948.

It’s not a simple secession.

:mjlol: Almost every country in East Africa is a dictatorship.
Somalia isn't one because the government has no authority.

unity is for siyadists, otha southerners careless,,have you heard sheikh sharif or Hassan shek so antagonistic against SL as farmajo does. these 2 former presidents knew that any stupid moves like farmajo did will make things worse.
update: Somaliland officially announced today that anyone with Somali passport will be denied entry and/or jailed.
farmajo jumped ahead of himself, he cant negotiate with that kind attitude. all talks suspended by Somaliland and he farmajo is the underdog in any conflict. he didn't help himself and anyone with same rhetoric is just blowing hot air.
who the anti landers are is not lost in land.pretty obvious.

Yep, South Sudan sealed the fate of Somaliland. They got recognised the day after they declared independance in July 2011 and the country has become a complete shitshow

I gave up on Sub-Saharan Africa after what happened to South Sudan.

Hopeless people.

SSA needs mass eugenics to breed out the low IQ and aggression genes.

My point is that the more state that secede from somalia, the more instability there is. A greater somalia isn't going to happen because of foreign powers pumping money into groups that aren't pro-somali. The Isaaqs aren't helping. Honestly, I agree with you, who would want to join somalia, but if Somalia returns to it's state of the 70's where there was not actually a communist state, Somalilanders , ogadenis and people from NFD would be flying the somali flag
