I’m an Isaaq. I know this vision is not supported by my people (for controversial reasons). I have a Somaliand flag at my own house (my family are the biggest Somaliand supporters out there). I always talk about the greater Somalia idea. As much this is a dream than a reality. We’ve could’ve accomplished greater things with this idea.

One race, one religion, one language and one culture. And yet divided. WTF Somalia.

It's the opposite — these 8 regions are massive, difficult to manage, and due to underdevelopment and other issues the locals were complaining about from 1960 to the 80s, the decision was made to create 18 regions instead.

It looks like both Shabelle regions were originally part of one region called Banaadir, but were later divided into three regions: Banaadir, Shabeellaha Hoose, and Shabeellaha Dhexe — similar to how Togdheer was divided into three regions: Togdheer, Sanaag, and Sool.

In contemporary history, the name North East was adopted post 1991 for Bari, Nugaal, and N Mudug, which later formed part of PL.

I am familiar with the districts, which came under the two regions. You will agree if you reference history books at the British library.
