They tried getting Sitti not too long ago but failed
I assumed that was a small struggle between 2 nomadic groups beefing over grazing space, which happens 24/7/360 between the Somalis and Afar and within said groups.

Do they not held the true grievance to the Tigrayans for taking over the salt trade during the TPLF era and the Amharas for taking some border territory from them in the Imperial era? A bunch of well-armed Christians from the highlands taking your studd should arouse something within a muslim population no?

If not then I am deeply mistaken on their trustworthiness in a potential DDS-exit.

Canfars think Cisses are Canfar traitors pretending to be Somali.
I have went into a deepdive on this subject and my view is that the Afar nobles (Asaimara- 'the red ones', contrasted with regular ppl who are Adoimara- 'the white ones') are the ones with a true beef with the Ciise because they want their land to increase their wealth, and the most prominent of the Asaimara- the Mudaito, who were (and still are) the Sultans of Awsa (Aussa in Eng, Aysaqiiyta in Afar) have a second reason, revenge against the Ciise for supposedly supporting dissenting Asaimara clans who rebelled, esp the Debne and Weima (who live in modern-day Djibouti and the Awash river area) during pre-colonial times.

Also apparently the Ciise used to rule Awsa before the Mudaito and they used to suppress their revolts a lot- with bloody consequences for the Mudaito, still to this day some Issas live in Awsa. Allegedly the Ciise were more just then the Mudaito (this is relative ofc, the Ciise were quick to kill to maintain their Sultanate back then but did not play with taxes and applied laws impartially) which explains why the dissenting Afar would ask for Ciise help and why the Mudaito would make such a claim to tarnish their rep within the Afar.

Also the Ciise were cracked archers and for some reason archery is looked down upon in Afar culture and before the mid-20th century some of them even went to far to declare it a sin.

Sadly all my sources for all of this are terrible! (wiki+random substacks and forums+AI) So if I am wrong on something do not get heated.
