We don’t have accurate statistics. Most women don’t even report it and Somalis don’t even register their marriages hence when they divorce we don’t even have accurate data as to the reasons as to why they divorced.

You have no idea what happens behind closed doors, but we do know that it isn’t culturally tolerated.

You refuse us to give us our only props. Repeat after me, domestic violence in Somali culture is negligible.

DV happens behind closed doors, any man can abuse his wife, plus I think emotional abuse is more common amongst Somalis rather than physical. I do believe that physical violence is low amongst Somalis as it is shamed and seen as unmanly and Somali women on average tend to be raised to be confident and have a backbone and will therefore be more likely to involve family and toll.

I’m not refusing anything, I’m just being factual. I give Somalis props for not tolerating it and for fathers and brothers to tend to take their daughters health, life and happiness at the forefront. That is something I’ll give Somalis props for. But denying DV, a world wide phenomenon found in all humans? Common lol.

Um, I haven't heard of domestic violence being common among Ogadens. My family is Ogaden, and this isn't a common practice either. It's looked down upon to be violent towards a woman, my parents would always get angry at my brothers for arguing with me or roughhousing. Don't know where you heard this. Nor do any of the OG Somalis in my extended family beat their wives.

This is about the 19th century so more than 150 years ago. Cultures change and shift and I’m fully aware that OGs in the late 20th to the 21st century don’t even know about this, let alone engage in it. This is all historical and has no bearing on modern Somalis.

@Qeelbax thoughts?

Y’all need to stop. OG’s are no different to other Somalis in this day and age. My comment about OG’s is a historical one so obviously this isn’t something that happens to this day or something the girls would see with their own fam and clan members.

What? Do you disagree? I disagree with her as this hasn't been my experience considering I'm in contact with my Ogaden family the most and often as well.

This explains why you always wear sunglasses in your pics :damn:
