She's not 100% wrong though. Some people seem to think they have to become Arab in order to be a good Muslim. You have people throwing away their traditional dress to wear abaya 24/7, ditching their language in favour of Arabic and even claiming Arab when they aren't. Islam can coexist with your own culture, believe it or not.

It baffles me because there is no goddamn middle ground on this website.
Either people say that the Arab dress is Somali culture and there is no issue, or that Islam is a cancer is the root cause of all this.

If Islam is the root cause of all this, then why is this such a recent phenomenon? We've been muslims for over a thousand years.
Islam (more specifically Arab clothings such as the abaya) were only recently made into a thing due to Wahhabism taking a hold over Somalia after the Civil War.
For a group that stereotypically prides itself on "rationality" the atheists on this website are very emotional and can't seem to separate their ridiculously heated hatred for Islam from what's actually going on.

The people who say that our culture has been lost due to Islam are COMPLETELY WRONG. Our culture is based off of Islam, our identity is based off of Islam etc. Heck, even our clans were created around the time Islam reached Somalia.

Islam brought us together and tied us together as a people. How can you say that Islam took away from our culture and how xan you claim it is an Arab telgion when we accepted Islam before most Arabs? Islam is for all of mankind and iur ancestors accepted it because they saw the truth in it. If you can't see that, fine.
